I finally got to take a trip to Belfast, Maine today with one of my my beautiful sisters! What a nice ride. We are so lucky to live in a state where we can just go to the ocean anytime we want without traveling thousands of miles! I got to look around at some really nice boutiques, but the one that really caught my eye was called Beyond The Sea. The jewelry was gorgeous.....just my style:-) I really liked it but, I am the type of person who doesn't buy just any piece of jewelry. I like there to be something special about it. So I asked the lady at the counter about some of the pieces. The pieces that I had my eyes on were handmade in Maine by a lady named Margarita. The focus of these designs is about the color and cut of glass that was hand cut in the first half of the 1900's. There were slight inconsistencies in these vintage pieces which add character to their beauty. I love jewelry that has something special about it. And these are the pieces I chose.

A Steal of a Deal!

I love this handbag and it's on sale at Talbots! I thought it would be a great transitional handbag to carry late August through September. And what a deal! It was a $160 handbag and then it was marked down to $74.99 and then it was 40% off that! So it ends up being $45:-) A steal of a deal! And doesn't it sort of remind you of Gucci with the bamboo details.......I just love that.
I was on the radio yesterday! It was so cool and really fun, but I was so nervous! I didn't sleep at all the night before. When I got to the station the next morning, I was still nervous but Deb made me feel really comfortable. Ric was dressed in a tee shirt, shorts and socks with no shoes. Normally I would say that this look is a fashion don't but, it actually made me feel more at ease in the studio. Being on the radio was a cool experience. Will I be nervous if I go on again. YES! But maybe not as bad:-)

Laura's Lovely Look of the Day! JCREW

I love this look, because it's great for the office, yet it is still very summer like and feminine, not to mention sexy! Love the straight pencil skirt paired with the ruffly cami. So modern!

Laura's Lovely Look of the Day! VICTORIA'S SECRET

This outfit is a little fallish, but you have to get prepared!

Love at First Sight! Kay Adams Jewels:-)

I have never met jewelry and chandelier designer Kay Adams before, but somehow I ran into her blog and immediately my breath was taken away!!!!! I have never witnessed anything so whimsical and beautiful in all my life! If her pieces are anything like her personality (and I'm most positive they are:-) then what an incredible lady she must be!

Laura's Lovely Look of the Day! TULLE

Laura's Lovely Look of the Day! VALENTINO

The Fleur de lis is one of my favorite symbols and I never really knew why. All, I know is that I always get a really good feeling when I look at it. It makes me feel happy and it has a really elegant look. The fleur de lis simply means lily flower in French. Why does it sound more beautiful in the French language? Anyway, I did some research and it turns out that the fleur de lis has heraldic meaning behind it. From there I looked up heraldic and then herald, which is a royal or official messenger, a person or thing that proclaims or announces. We now see this symbol in modern times as purely decorative, but at one time it was seen as a political symbol. All I know is that it is beautiful to look at, fun to decorate with, and very cool to wear:-)
Cat Deeley is the host of one of my favorite TV shows in the whole world, So You Think You Can Dance! She has such great style and looks great in everything her stylist puts her in. She has a quality that not all of us possess. And that is that SHE wears the clothes. The clothes do not wear her. That is just something for all of us to work on......that's all:-)

Lovely Look of the Day! Nanette Lepore

Chambray is so snazzy for summer!

I am totally loving the look and feel of chambray for summer. It is soft and airy and is a lot cooler than denim. Cooler meaning more airy:-) Denim is always cool in my book. Meaning great, fine and/or excellent:-)

Novelty [nov-uhl-tee] having a pattern or design produced by a novelty weave

Everyone loves novelty!!! And I don't blame them. It's the excitement it gives. That little punch an outfit needs to make it great instead of good. It just seems to make us all very happy when we look at it! I am loving the recent novelty styles that I am seeing in the fashion world. When I used to think of novelty, I thought of a turtleneck with candy canes all over it, or a t shirt with an embroidered cat on the front. Now we are seeing the updated, modern novelty styles EVERYWHERE and they are not just for your grandmother anymore!

Bangles are sooo cool

Bangles are so cool! And I am not talking about the all girl group from the 80's, although they were great:-) Whatever happened to them anyway??
Once you find the right style in a denim jacket, it will become a life long friend. You will wear it for years to come! It will go with just about any outfit. You will pack it for every trip you take. It will be your fashion security blanket.
This is me wearing my favorite denim jacket from Talbots

There's nothing like a pair of espadrilles from Spain!

There is nothing that says "I love summer" better than a pair of espadrilles! I love them for many reasons. The first reason is that you know it's summer if you spot them. They really are meant for dry weather since the soles are usually woven rope. The second reason is that I love the styles that tie around your ankle. They make me feel like the ballerina that I always dreamt I'd become. The third reason is that they make styles for women AND men:-) They are so cool, comfy, and they scream out a laid back kind of style. My favorite espadrilles are made right in Spain which I have found on this really cool website called Espadrillesetc.com. They have the most varieties you will ever find. And I just think it is so cool to have a pair made in the very country that they originated in!
Here I am modeling my very own bracelet by Bobbi
Here I am hangin' with Jewelry designer Bobbi Young and Handbag designer Lauren Perry Gray at the Downtown Bangor, Maine Outdoor Marketplace. I am loving their designs!
My faaaaaavorite fragrance this summer seems to be PRADA Infusion d'Iris. Very classic and modern. If you have tried this and love it you may want to try PRADA Infusion de fleur d'oranger. This one has a beautiful light mandarin orange scent. But since I am trying to be a good girl I will wait for next spring to order this one up.
Since I am a dancer at heart, it seems like I am always attracted to any piece that looks like a ballerina whether it be ballet flats, a ballet neck jersey, a cami, or a crown. I found this little number on ModCloth.com. I think I just may have to own it!
I am loving this dress by contemporary clothing designer Francis. I have always loved the rugby look but I felt it was too masculine and it just wasn't me. Until now! This dress is sporty, yet feminine and sexy:-)
I just bought The Ting Tings latest CD yesterday and WOW. It's sooo cool. I wanted to dance when I was going for my power walk this morning. So then, I did some research on guitarist/vocalist Katie White of The Ting Tings. I am absolutely loving her style. Very 80's (which is MY era) and edgy. She's great!
Here I am wearing my latest addition to my wardrobe! A Juicy Couture Blouse that I found on sale at Neiman Marcus.com. I love looking through Neimans catalogs and picking out a few pieces and book marking them. Then once in a while I see if it made it to the sale. Then I check the price. If the price still isn't low enough, I wait until it goes on a special promotion, like an additional 20% or 30% off then then I snag it. Hoping that it still exists in my size. If not , I just check e bay, and if it's not on e bay, then it just wasn't meant to be! Then, I might be just a little sad. But, soon something else comes along and POOF! I'm over it!
Maggie Lawson's stylist has got it goin ' on! Love her style as Lacey Smithsonian in the movie series called Killer Hair on the Lifetime Movie Network!
I love this nail polish! Avon's Nail Experts Pearl Shine goes on so light and natural. It's regularly only $6.00 but right now it's on sale for $3.99! Another plus is that it takes no time to dry. This really impressed me because I am so impatient. It almost looks like your own nails but much prettier:-)Trust me, I am a nail polish snob.
Nanette Lepore's Swept Away Dress. The dress I am after at this moment!!!!!!

Prints and Pleats

Nothing screams SUMMER like these printed and pleated skirts! I am loving the fact that ALL lengths are in style. You just have to pick the right one for you. The shorter styles are adorable for anyone who has great legs. I love the way they look with a ballet flat or strappy flat sandal. If you are really daring try one of the shorter style skirts with a chunky wood platform sandal. Pair the short skirt with a simple button down sleeveless blouse and you are good to go! The longer styles are really beautiful for any lady and look especially great if you are tall, but you don't have to be tall to wear this. There are no rules here! You just have to experiment and go with what looks best on YOU. A jersey knit cami style top and flat strappy sandals is a cool way to make the most of the longer skirt look.
