Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel Had Perfect Timing

I just had to share with you how inspired I am by Coco Chanel. She really brought us the look of the 'modern woman' and she couldn't have had better timing! It was the end of WWI in the year 1918 and women were just starting to be more independent and get their rights. They started working and living the not so traditional lifestyle that most women have no choice to live today! (Luckily I have no problem with that:-) Coco Chanel started her business making hats. She had been a seamstress all her life and pretty much knew nothing else. With her hats she could be more creative and express herself. A lot of her hats were made fun of at first because they were not traditional. She was not traditional:-) Coco's timing was perfect with the war ending and women becoming more independent. Ladies started to consider her designs. She began making skirts a little shorter and pants for ladies. Her first thought was that ALL women want to be comfortable especially now that they were...

The Grass Is Not Always Greener On The Other Side, But It Starts To Be Greener In Springtime!

January and February seem the be the longest months when you live in the Northeastern most state. We are so tired of seeing white! I know that white is one of springs trends for 2010, but frankly I need to see some green. I thought that you might too! If you dig around in your closet I bet you can find something. Green can be a difficult color to wear however. But it does come in so many different shades. Most ladies feel better wearing a teal or a kelly green. You just have to watch out for greens that have too much yellow in them. If you absolutely feel that you can't wear green, then go for a green handbag or a pair of earrings, a ring or a bracelet with green stones. Make sure you have a few green plants around too. They can really help lift your spirits especially when the sun is shining on them!

Get a Clip!

I was just searching for a little pick me up that would cheer me up and I ran across these cute little shoe clips from Victorian Trading Co! They are so pretty and they can transform an outfit. They look best on a shoe with a little kitten heel or a ballet flat particularly one with a low vamp for a more modern look, worn with a boot leg or flare leg jean. Make sure your jeans are long enough and grazing the top part of your foot so that you just barely see the shoe clip peeking out and pleasantly surprising your onlooker;-) To complete the look try a very fitted white or cream blouse with cuffs worn untucked under a very cool menswear style button front vest. Can you say 'Tres chic?!'

When The Runway Isn't Your Real Life~Chapter 1~THE SKINNY LEG PANT

It is so exciting to see what is happening in the fashion world from season to season. Sometimes the trends are very wearable and other times well, not so much. Or at least it is very difficult to see ourselves wearing them in our day to day life. Believe me, I hate it that we have to be practical. But there is a fine line between looking fashion forward and just pure nuts. It is hard for people that are more artistic to take the look down a notch and it is hard for those reasonable ladies to experiment a little and step it up. It is really important that and you consider a few things. The first thing you MUST do is acquire your own sense of style. Know who YOU are. Know what looks good on you depending on your body type. The next thing is, as much as I hate to say this, you must consider your AGE. This will be easier for you if you feel confident in your sense of style first. Age is only a number, yes, but it also depends on an outfit looking fabulous or just plain silly. Now some of ...

The Soul of the Trip

Well known jewelry designer Lorenz Baumer has created one of the most stunning necklaces of all time for Louis Vuitton. This masterpiece contains yellow, white, and red gold. White and yellow diamonds. Blue, pink, yellow, orange, and padparadscha sapphires. Tsavorites, mandarin garnets, and fire opals. Is that enough gems for ya??? I just love how he chose to design circles. Baumer said that in all the cultures that he has visited circles represent perfection. Now I know why I can't stop staring at it! The jewelry line that Baumer has named L'ame du Voyage, meaning The Soul of the Trip, tells us that the new Louis Vuitton jewelry collection is definitely going places. (I wanna go!!!)

Walk Into A Rainbow!......Instead of A Mess;-)

Today I decided to clean up my closet a little. I Love my closet. I would have to say it is my most prized possession. My dad designed it for me and when we remodeled the upstairs of my house. He helped me decide how to configure the room so that I could have the biggest closet I could possibly have! He also lined the whole closet with cedar boards including the ceiling! I stand in my closet every morning and just admire it. Then I figure out what mood I am in and go from there. I usually do this after my shower. I don't know what mood I am in until after I have had at least one cup of coffee and my shower. I feel like it will be even easier now that I have colorized it. From light to dark. I don't know how to explain it. It's like I can breathe again. (taking a deep breath in now and blooooowwwing it out:-) In this top photo you can almost see the whole closet. Can you see the rainbow? This is the bottom half. I had to combine some of my tops in with the pants because the...

Time For Your Top 10 Spring Trends! Last But Not Least Here is #10: THE WHITE STUFF

I know we have seen enough white this winter, but it's a lot more fun wearing it than playing in it, for me anyway. In my job I come across quite a few ladies who claim that they can't wear white. They say that they can only wear a cream or a winter white because it does nothing for their complexion. This is mostly coming for women who 'have their colors done' which I do not believe in. There are just way to many tones of colors to know exactly which ones you can and can't wear! Plus you can really change up your own coloring with your make up and hair. I suggest experimenting and having fun. Don't categorize yourself. That can get so boring!! And getting back to white. It is just so pure and pretty. You can't go wrong. Oh and pleeeaaasseee stop worrying about wearing white before memorial day and after labor day. That is so old school. Even Coco Chanel broke that rule. Miss Victoria Beckham living the lap of luxury in her white. This is a vintage dress tha...
