Come Sail Away!

Now I don't know much about sailing. Ok, let's be truthful. I know nothing about sailing. I get sea sick. But I do know a lot about how fabulous these sail boat inspired pieces are to wear! These few pieces are a take off of the nautical look that I love so much for spring. They are so fun to wear because they are so colorful and there is just something about the sails that give you that "I'm free!" feeling. Ralph Lauren Black Label Lucille Sail Print Dress. LOVE IT! This dress looks super cool and comfy. Personally I would have worn a thin red patent belt with it;-) This sailboat print dress by Stella McCartney is one of my favorite things. It would be super chic with a red and white striped ribbon belt and some red patent heels...wouldn't you agree? Yellow heels would also be quite nice;-) This Hermes scarf is so pretty. I love the soft summery colors. I can picture this tied to your white handbag gently blowing in the wind. This is ...

Prairie Girl

The prairie girl look has come a long way since Little House on the Prairie. (Still one of my favorite TV programs by the way:-) It's hard to believe that they made most of their clothes back then. Back then meaning the 1870's. We are so spoiled nowadays with everything being made for us. All we need to do is go to the store and buy it. It's not a wonder why we can't ever find the perfect fit though. How does the manufacturer know what our body type is?? The answer is simple, they don't! But that's a whole other story for another time. So, back to the Prairie Girl look of the 21st century. Think plaids, short full skirts, cowboy boots worn with minis, denim, and peasant style tops. These pieces would be easy enough to sew up, wouldn't they? Minus the boots that is. Oh and when it comes to the hair, think modern braids. A bit of a messy look. One braid worn off to the side, two braids worn clipped up to the top of your head, or wear your hair down and throw i...

Show Your Pearly Not Necessarily Whites!

We all know that pearls have been worn in the fashion world forever. It was way back as early as the 1st century BC that China was known to string pearls and later in the 12th century was having them commercially produced! See, you did learn something new today after all! I am here to tell you that pearls have been here for a very long time and they will continue to be one of the most timeless accessories ever worn by us fashion mavens. These are some pearls of my own from Talbot s and I would have to say that they are my second favorite accessory that I own! My 1st favorite is an off white multi strand pearl necklace which you will see as you scroll down. These particular pearls are not white and not all pearls are white much to many peoples dismay. Cultured pearls can come in any color imaginable! Of course I love the way pearls look dressed up but I also love the look of pearls worn with jeans. They also look super cool worn with a simple tee and a denim jacket. This is a page from...

Be the "Next Big Stylist!"

OK, so I never enter contests. I never win anything and I TOTALLY never expect to. But this was a contest that I actually wanted to enter because it was fun! Plus I do this kind of thing everyday anyway. Meaning I create looks for people EVERY day. This was a contest on a website called Polyvore where you can create sets of different looks for clients, magazines, etc. And you can use items that you find on just about any website. However, if you enter this contest you could only use items from Piperlime. And if you win you might just get to be the "Next Big Stylist" and be on Bravo with Rachel Zoe!!!! Now that would be awesome:-) There were 3 different scenarios. #1 was that your client is going to attend her friends wedding and doesn't want to outshine the bride. #2 was that your client is attending her 10 year class reunion and she wants to look great. #3 is that she is a high powered executive and she is meeting her boss today, but she also has a date tonight with a ne...

Ikat......Udog....ha ha (I thought it was funny:-)

Note to self: When you have a feeling that something is timeless, you should buy it! That's what I am telling myself these days after regretting my decision to not purchase anything in the gorgeous Ikat print last spring! I am now seeing this gorgeous print again all over the runways and in fashion magazines again this spring, yet I cannot find anything in the Bangor, Maine area this year! These pieces to the right are a few Ikat print pieces that I considered purchasing last spring from Talbots. I was so close to purchasing the scarf!!! Now I wish I did. At least I would have one great Ikat print accessory piece to sport again this spring. So the moral to the story is that Ikat prints are timeless and they seem to be super cool in the spring and summer. I love the way gold accessories look with this tribal print. Sort of reminds be of being an African Queen. Ikat prints also give off that cool hippy chic boho vibe. Nichole Richie's look that her sensational stylist Rachel Z...

Summer is the perfect time for a FEVER!

Before you begin reading this blog start the movie. This will give you the overall feeling that I want you to have as you read this. Ok, do you have it rolling? Can you hear the music? Just take a few and watch. It's not until you get to the last 3 or 4 minutes that you get to see the lovely John Travolta dancing in his white suit. How classy, sexy, and smooth does he look?! This movie was a big part of an era that I am sure that if you lived in it, you hoped it would never end! I can see why. The stage alone just makes me wanna dance. The music is super cool and John in his white suit just tops it all off! I watched a documentary last weekend on the making of this film in 1977. What I didn't know is that it was an indie film that totally went mainstream. I can see why?! It is full of emotions. Crazy emotions. So, anyway if you haven't see Saturday Night Fever, then you really should. If you have seen it, you should watch it again. I guarantee it will inspire you in some w...

Target Does It Again!! (it's a good thing;-)

Liberty of London, a British dept. store founded by Sir Arthur Lazenby Liberty, has been around for a very long time. Try 135 years! There is quite a history there as you can probably imagine. It was originally founded as an oriental emporium named 'East India House.' You really should read the historical sequence of events listed on this website www.answers.com/topic/liberty-of-london.com . There you will read everything you need to know about how they got to where they are today! It's pretty amazing. And now you can find a beautiful and affordable collection created by Liberty of London right at Target! This line is so springy, and girly ! It makes me happy just looking at it! These are just a few of my favorite pieces from this line, but there is much more. They have candles, picture frames, bedding, and men's attire, just to name a few. But you better get to Target fast because it will only be there for a limited time. Not to worry though. I hear Zac Posen is cr...

Risky Business on Project Runway Paid Off!

Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire magazine Joanna Coles took a huge risk when deciding to make it a challenge for the contestants on Project Runway to design the perfect dress for Heidi Klum to wear on the April cover shoot. I personally thought this was the best challenge I have ever seen put forth on this show! I know if I was in the shoes of the contestants this challenge would have really pushed me. If I were one of the judges, what a great way to determine if one was actually ready to step it up and create something for a specific person, keeping that person in mind the whole time you are designing. I was in 100% agreement with the judges pick on the winner Anthony Williams. I loved how he created something that would be perfect for Heidi, but also kept his own style. You could totally tell that this was his design, yet it would look perfect on Heidi! Not to mention that it might happen to look great on a ton of other women in this world too......including myself;-) I adore the ori...
