Look To The Stars!

There is just something about the stars in the universe that make you think that there has got to be more to life than what we live here on Earth. Then I saw this silk chiffon biker jacket by Christopher Kane  (above) and I was convinced! This fabulous piece took my breath away along with these other pieces from his fine galaxy far far away. Check them out! Christopher Kane Resort 2011 Collection

I Feel Special!

{ Brahmin Anytime Tote. It even has little gold feet on the bottom! So pretty. } When I got home from work today this Brahmin "Anytime Tote" was waiting for me sealed in a box on my doorstep. I couldn't even imagine what it was since I have been behaving so well and making a point to not do any online shopping. Then I remembered the other day when I got an e mail from the Vogue Influencer Network saying that for being an "influencer" I could get a free Brahmin bag  if I was one of the first 10 or so to accept the gift. When I accepted the gift there were only 6 left. But supposedly I was going to get one. I decided that I would believe it when I saw it. At the time I had no idea what kind of bag. There was no picture of it. I thought it might just be a tiny wristlet, which would have been absolutely fine with me. Anything free is fabulous especially when it is from a company that produces this kind of quality craftsmanship! But, guess what? It wasn't a...

Black and Gold = Timeless and Elegant.

When I think of putting black and gold together I automatically  think of designer Yves Saint Laurent. Such a glamorous look that he was well known for. I was inspired by this page (see below) in my March edition of Harper's Bazaar. As I was examining the page I actually felt the glamour poring out! The models look so gorgeous and the accessories are so elegant! I just had to try this black and gold look! I thought this look was very Yves Saint Laurent. Sort of a feminine take on a menswear look, which to me, can be even more sexy than Beyonce wearing a mini dress ;) Here is a little closer look at the gold necklace that I chose to complete this look. I also chose gold sparkle earrings and a couple of gold bracelets. I did my eye make up and blush in shimmery copper shades. {A gorgeous model wearing a palette of black and gold.} This is a vintage Yves Saint Laurent suit that I cam across on the web. I thought it  was similar to my blouse! Very chic! W...

Animal Print Is HOT for SPRING!

I don't know about you, but I usually relate animal print to a pattern that I mostly wear in the fall and winter for some reason. I think that it is because of it's colors of rich browns and golds like in the skirt I am wearing from Talbots in the photo above. Normally in the fall and winter I might pair this with a brown turtleneck, brown tights and brown boots. But since spring has officially arrived, (and you could have fooled me on that one!) I decided to pair it with a cute denim blouse from Newport News and a metallic belt. I also wanted a little bit of color so I threw some red into the mix. Kind of a burgundy scarlet like red. I also would not hesitate to pair this skirt with a nicely fitted white blouse worn under a cute fitted denim blazer.  Animal prints in accessories are also on trend at the moment and I especially love this very cool utility style cross body bag created by Gwen Stefani for L.A.M.B. (photo on the left is of the chic and divine...

Cute Skirt Alert!

I saw an ad for JCPenny's spring collection on television tonight while watching the season premier of  Dancing With The Stars and I did a double take on this fabulous skirt! So I did what any fashion freak would do. I Googled it! Come to find out it is by Bisou Bisou for JCpenny and at the affordable price of $29.99 it is completely sold out online! I am not surprised. It is super cute and I want it!  (Don't worry. I haven't given up yet! I will find it even if it's on ebay!)

Knit Dressing ~ Is it too relaxed for you??

Wait, I know, I thought the same thing. I can't wear my knit jersey sportswear to the office! No way. Totally unacceptable. UNLESS you STYLE it ;)) This is a photo of the infamous Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel wearing knit jersey from head to toe! She used a lot of jersey fabric in her creations because it was so inexpensive. Look at how glamorous she looks! I would totally wear this to the office, wouldn't you? Of course the pearls work wonders for most any look, but the way she is wearing her hair and  her choice of shoes really make it work! My point is ladies, that knit dressing can work for you too! You just have to know how to work it. Laura's Style tip #1 on knit dressing is: Leave the sneakers behind! Here is a knit dress created by Chanel. See how timeless and feminine?! I would totally wear this design today. Here is yet another fabulous knit jersey look from the Mattita Fashion House in the 1920's. Glamor all the way baby!! Fashion trends have come and ...

Going BUGGY!

This w hite gold grasshopper ring with rubelite, emeralds, garnets, diamonds, and tsavorites  by Chopard is to die for!!! Plus grasshoppers are good, right?! If you know me, then you know how I feel about bugs. If you don't know me then I will just tell you know that bugs FREAK ME OUT! However, I will make an exception if the specimen's name is Chopard, Lanvin, Milly, Betsy Johnson, or Carolina Herrera. See below to peek at the rest of the styles that have made even I, go BUGGY!  I can totally tolerate a butterfly or two. Just as long as it is got a lot of sparkle like this plexiglas necklace with crystal butterfly by Lanvin.  Okay, this dress on the left by Milly is a stretch for me. I am not one to even want to dream about bugs crawling all over my body. But this dress is just so adorable!!! And the earrings by Betsy Johnson on the right are a total must. I love the way that they are not meant to match. So quirky and cute! Now this is a LAURA look...

Denim Jacket Days Are Here!!..........almost...

Okay, so you might not be ready to wear your bikini top under your denim jacket just yet, but the day will come!!.......if you wear a bikini that is. I am just super excited that we are experiencing weather with temps in the 40's here in the northeast. So, dig out that denim jacket! So what if you have to layer a blouse under a sweater in order to wear it. Layers are good! Especially at this time of year :) Here are some of my favorite denim jacket styles: This vintage denim jacket from Free People brings back memories of my first denim jacket I ever owned. I was in the 8th grade and my mom took me shopping at the mall. If you live in my town you might remember a shop in the Bangor Mall called Brooks back in the 80's. It was one of my favorite stores and I used to dream of working in a place like that. Those girls behind the counter were soooo pretty and they always looked super chic. Anyway, this is an exact replica of the one that my mom bought me at that shop!  This denim...
