Winterize Your "Summer" Dresses

If you are anything like me, you are getting a little antsy for spring to hurry up and get here! I was just staring into my closet the other day longing to wear these cute summer-ish dresses when I decided that old man winter is not gonna hold me back! Here is how I winterized my "summer" dresses: This is one of my favorite floral dresses that I own from Talbots. It's called the " Gouache " floral dress. It looks so pretty in the summer when I have a little glow from the faux tan I get from a tube . But I thought, why not put on some tights, boots, a velvet blazer, and a nice wide belt to make it a little more wear now. And you know what? It worked!  This is yet another dress from Talbots called the " Audrey ." Again, this dress is completely sleeveless and lately the temps have not reached above freezing, but I knew there was something that could be done to allow me to sport it right now. So I threw on my black ballet neck ...

Flowers in Fashion. They Simply Never Go Out Of Style!

Annette von Einem  is known for turning flowers into wearable art. I was so inspired by her creations that even though there was a snow storm happening outside, I still found a way to incorporate some flowers into my light of day. See below: (of course I wore my boots to work and then changed into my Donald J Pliner Couture sequin ballet flats when I got inside) What I wore: ~embroidered floral sweater from Anthropologie ~boyfriend jeans, hot pink corduroy jacket & earrings from Talbots ~sequin ballet flats by Donald J Pliner Couture ~pearl ring from Silpada Below you will find even more floral inspiration from Alexis Mabille 's Haute Couture Spring/Summer collection. This is guaranteed to brighten your life 10 times brighter than it is already :)) Sooooo lovely. http://youtu.be/XZx4xxIDDHA   Oh what gorgeous fabrics in that collection!! Here are some more floral items that make me smile :) Jacey Pleated Flo...

She's Got The Look!

Welcome to my "She's Got The Look" series. We are all inspired by others as well as the view around us no matter how original we are. (some people hate to admit that. I call them pretenders. Another word for that would be snob.) Anyway, during my daily visit to Style.com (it's set as my home page ;) I found myself admiring the look above and thought about what I already had in my wardrobe that could sort of mimic this. I had a matching navy blue pinstripe vest and matching pants that I had purchased at Talbots about 6 years ago. I had a denim blouse by Newport News that I had found at Goodwill with the original tags intact for $2.50 last year, and I had my gold bracelets by Alex and Ani ,  The only thing missing was the brown crossbody bag which I wouldn't carry around work with me all day anyway, and the matching jacket, but that's okay. I would have taken the jacket off. (as you can see she is about to do the same with her jacket since it is just rest...

Being Stylish & Warm. Yes, There Is Such A Thing!

{Photo via Tommy Ton } Okay, so it is really hard to be fashionable and warm at the same time. As a true "Mainer" (born and raised) I have been battling this for YEARS and there is no getting around it. Fashion is not designed with cold temperatures in mind. I flip through fashion magazines and I see beautiful people wearing short skirts and killer shoes with bare feet and legs and I think to myself that I would be a not so pretty shade of purple if I were wearing it that way! The temp has to at least be 55 to 60 degrees for me to even dare to wear bare feet and legs out doors. Do you feel the same? Does it make you all confused when it's time to get dressed when it's freezing cold outside? Join the club. There is no way around it. You must dress for the weather. Trust me, frostbite wouldn't look so good on you. Here are a few key pointers to looking stylish when the weather is not only cold, but downright FREEZING. It actually was -11 degrees last Sunday ...
