My Closet Shop

Am I the only one who gets overwhelmed when I walk into my closet? I think not! Every six months or so I find it necessary to purge and organize. Some items I donate to charity, others I sell to resale shops like American Retro or Polish so that I can get a little money back in my pocket. And guess what I do with that money? I spend it on clothes and/or accessories! If you love fashion like I do, you MUST update your look every so often. (I tend to do so at least once a week;) Last week I decided to do a little closet organizing. As much as I love everything in my wardrobe, there are some things that must go. Even though something is timeless, that doesn't mean that you should wear it forever. Fashionistas are only human. We may love our clothes, but sometimes it's just time to move on and pass that garment down to another fashionista who can work it into their wardrobe. I also love websites such as I-Ella for that purpose. I-Ella is a members only website, so you hav...

How to Shop Smart at a BIG SALE

'Tis the season! No, it's not Christmas. It's better. It's every fashionista's favorite time of year. WINTER CLEARANCE! There are so many fabulous deals out there, and it can be overwhelming at times. Everything is so affordable and you love it all! But you don't necessarily need it all. How do you make wise choices? Please feel free to comment at the end of this blog post. But for now, I will tell you the secret on how I make my selections.  First of all I check out what my favorite designers have already shown on the runway for fall/winter 2013 using websites such as Style.com . Yes, they are already working on Spring 2014.  As you can see, Chanel is showing an argyle, tweed and plaid trend. I pay attention to the colors that they are wearing. Looks like mustard yellow is going to still be around as well as green, red and navy. And Burberry is showing lots of black and camel as well as........... red, black and navy. After I check ou...

What Are YOU Going to NEED For Spring 2013?

{These three items pictured above are my latest purchases from Target. A red-orange cross body bag, a coral clutch and a metallic green bow belt. All three items came to under $20!} Spring my seem a little far fetched to some. I on the other hand, choose to believe that right now is not forever. Meaning I am always thinking ahead, in new ways. Thinking ahead is what I do best! Maybe it's because I work in fashion. Fashion is not for those who are stuck in their rut, since it is ever changing and evolving. I think that is why I love it so much! I dare you to start thinking Spring! And now that I have you thinking, what will spring fashion mean to you this year? For me, Spring 2013 means: Tons of color (specifically corals, greens and saphire blues) More structure Cleaner lines Flatter shoes Chunky chain jewelry Spring 2013 by lauraly featuring a coral bag Oh! And I almost forgot. PAISLEY! How could I forget about paisley?!!! {Ta...

Laura's Make-Up Pick of the Month

Nars lipstick in " Jungle Red " is my make-up pick of the month. I knew I needed to own this fabulous red lipstick when I saw it on Ashley Olsen. (see photos below) As you can see, this lipstick can be worn as intense or as soft as you would like. And it really feels great on. Not sticky and dry at all. And that means a lot since right now the weather in Maine is so cold and dry that most of my lipsticks feel cake-y and flake-y when I wear them.  Yucky . Nars lipstick feels smooth and silky.  Yummy !
