Currently Coveting.......

Introducing your lux fall must have of the week. The Sweater Dress. The sweater dress is so easy to just throw on and it looks fabulous. I am especially partial to this one by Bailey 44 . The hemline is not only sexy but versatile when it comes to wearing it with or without tights. You could even wear it with leggings and boots when the weather gets cooler. The neckline is a flattering ballerina style. You would want to stay clear of wearing a necklace with this dress since it is already interesting enough with the crossover hemline and the Alpine ski print. Try some great earrings, an interesting ring and a cuff style bracelet instead. Shop this sweater dress by clicking right HERE . SHOP THE LOOK JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Eight Things You Need For Fall Right NOW

You know me, I love summer. But I never said that there was anything wrong with preparing for the cooler months ahead. If you live in New England, you know that the weather cools off quite quickly, so it's important to be prepared. If there were just eight pieces that I would suggest that you buy right now in preparation for fall, these would be them: 1. The Weekend Chino in indigo blue 2. The Quilted Vest in fiesta pink 3. The Patch Pocket Denim Shirt in dark sea 4. Rory Soft Quilted Leather Elastic Ballet Flats . My personal color preference would be faded petal which is the soft ballet pink shade.  5. The Quilted Plaid Satchel 6. The Quilted Brushed-Back Jacket in lagoon 7. The Flower & Plaid Scarf 8. Tartan-Plaid Blouse in fiesta pink.

The First Three Steps To Finding Your Style

We all want to look good. But do we know why we want to look good? Is it to impress others, or is it to simply satisfy ourselves?  {Photo via Much Info } Fashion is everywhere and these days it's easy to say that anything goes. But does it really ? Yes, everyone has the freedom to wear whatever they want, but that doesn't mean it makes them look good. But then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?  That whole first paragraph was just to get you thinking. Now , you are here reading my style blog, so that must mean that you like fashion or that you need some guidance around fashion . First, the question I would like you to ask yourself is: Why do I want to look good? That is the first step in finding your style. Figuring out your "why" is key to just about anything that you want to achieve whether it be finding your style, weight loss or whatever you want to do. Once you figure your  why around being fashionable, then you will be on y...

Should You Match Your Purse To Your Shoes?

The short answer to this question is of course no . But there is nothing wrong with doing so if it just so happens to work out that way unintentionally. It was a a fashion "rule" back in the 50's and 60's which carried slightly into the 70's to always match your shoes to your handbag and I think that your belt was supposed to match too. In the 80's this rule went right out the window. There were a lot of bad things that happened with fashion in the 80's but luckily one good thing came out of that era! Below you will find some examples of handbags paired with shoes that look perfectly cool but do not match at all. And yes, the last look is a navy handbag paired with black shoes. Contrary to popular belief, navy and black should be worn together ! More handbags I am loving for the upcoming season! JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Thinking ahead..........

A couple of days ago I wrote a blog post about embracing August, our last full month of summer. But I just couldn't help but experiment with this fall/winter color called Marsala. It's such a rich color and I happen to love it. Not just because it's Pantone's color of the year, but because I feel like it really works well with my complexion. I have to admit, I do struggle with color during the summer months. I feel like I wear jewel tones and deeper colors better, but they are hard to come by in the summer. Does anyone else feel the same way? {Photo via Hadley Court } I just happened to find this sweet flutter jersey from Talbots hanging in my closet. I couldn't find anything like it on the internet! I was hoping to find something similar in a close color so that I could refer you to it just in case you wanted one for yourself. However I did come across some adorable flutter sleeve tops for you to shop. SHOP FLUTTER SLEEVE TOPS JavaScript is cur...

Fall Colors For 2015

As far as I am concerned, summer is still in full swing and it might be a little to early for me to be writing this blog post. It's still August for goodness sake! But I can't help myself from planning ahead. I think it might be due to the fact that I have worked in fashion and retail for over twenty years. In this field of work, we are always thinking ten steps ahead of the average person. Because if we didn't, then you wouldn't be able to enjoy your life the way that you do!  On that note, I just wanted to share with you some of the colors we will be seeing a lot of this fall and winter of 2015 in the fashion world. I just had a feeling that you might be a bit curious about this. Am I right? These colors are so rich and beautiful. As much as I am thoroughly trying to enjoy August, I can't help but be excited for the season ahead. Feel free to pin these colors to your Pinterest boards to refer back to all fall and winter. Ten Tips For Shopping Thrift

Thrift shopping requires a certain mindset. It's not like walking into a Neimans or a Nordstrom and seeing that perfect look all put together for you. But that's the beauty of it. Of course thrift shopping is not for everyone. Not everyone wants to take the time to hunt for the perfect shirt, skirt, pants, dress or blazer. And thrift shopping does take time. I believe that thrift shopping is an art form. Because chances are you are going to be putting pieces together yourself, which to me, in itself, is art. {Photo via POLISH , which is one of my favorite thrift shops in Bangor, Maine! Shop their two locations on 1205 Broadway and the other on 548 Hammond Street ) Today I thought I would just fill you in on a few of the things that I look for when thrift shopping. See my ten tips below: First of all, be willing to get dirty. Thrift shopping is not a task for a germaphobe. Bring some Purell with you and just take a shower when you get home if you feel really...

Let Yourself Glow!

Yes, this vintage necklace from the 1960's is so pretty and iridescent that it GLOWS, but one might ask, how do I actually wear this pretty vintage necklace in 2015? There are actually many ways you can wear it if you keep an open mind.  {1960's Vintage Moonglow Necklace can be found at The Canny Canary } When I first look at this necklace I automatically think, dress up. Below you will find a few really cute modern dresses from Nordstrom that would actually work really well with this vintage necklace .  { Leith } { Cream and Sugar } { Ted Baker London } But, if you are like me you might not dress up every single day.
