What A BRAT!!

I happened to be on Twitter a few days ago checking out and thanking all of my most recent followers when I ran across fashion and accessory designer Keren Brat who had actually sent me a personal e mail. "I absolutely love your sense of fashion and styling as well as your creative writing!" These are the kind words I read in her message. Now this is a lady who has class ;) It's not every day that a fashion designer personally e mails you. Or me anyway.  She happens to be from London. I have to admit that I had never heard of Keren Brat , but then again there are so many talented designers out there that it would be impossible to keep track of them all. But believe me, after seeing photographs of her latest fall/winter 2011 collection, I will never forget her. Ms. Brat's designs are soooo ultra modern, yet feminine at the same time, which happens to be sooooo me. I think they represent every woman.  Strong and delicate.  Courageous and graceful.  ...

Could You Survive With FIVE?

Imagine That This Is Your Wardrobe This is the situation:  You are going on a business trip to Italy where you will be staying for eight days. { This is a little bit of a fantasy of mine. Just go along with me here } You are only are allowed to take FIVE pieces of clothing. Thank goodness this does not include your pj’s, undergarments, and accessories. You want to look fabulous for a variety of affairs. This will be a little bit challenging, since you are used to walking into a closet filled with quite the assortment. Thank goodness your accessories are unlimited, within reason of course.  This is my challenge. Let’s see how I made out: These are the jewels I brought: These are the scarves I brought: These are the shoes I brought: {yes, my luggage was a little bit heavy} These are my eight looks: Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7 Day 8 As you can see it IS possible to create soooo many looks with just 5 pieces of clothing. We think we need more, when in fact we don...

I JUMP For Polka Dots!

Okay, you can call me psychic. I have not worn this blouse by Julie Haus since last spring/summer, but I dug it out of the "best of Laura's Closet" archives yesterday not even knowing how much of a huge trend polka dots are right now! (according to style.com ) Most ladies know that polka dots are always on trend, no matter what the season. They are one of those prints that we call CLASSIC, which is something that I am always drawn to without even knowing sometimes. CLASSICS are TIMELESS which is why they are a good investment. Oooooooh, how fabulous are these! Both are by Miu Miu .  As we all know, certain pieces give me heart palpitations. This polka dot chiffon blouse by Thakoon is one of them! GORGEOUS!  I would totally carry this half moon cross body bag by Chloe Sevigny while wearing this effie polka dot blouse and pencil skirt by Kate Spade. And I would totally sport this cuff bracelet by John Hardy while wearing this luxurious polka dot jumpsuit by Diane...

Flowers Make Me HAPPY!

Last week I noticed that my geranium was beginning to bloom in my sunny dining room window. A sudden burst of happiness came over me!What is it about flowers that make us feel so good? I think it has something to do with the gorgeous colors they are born with, don't you?  I know most people think it is a bit too soon to begin wearing flower prints. But why? I say wear flowers in the middle of winter if it makes you feel good! I did wear black tights with this floral skirt, but believe it or not, my first thought was NOT to make this look seem a little more winter like. I just liked the contrast of the black tights with the brights! All of my recent dreams of flowers led me to design these "Fleur Rouge" earrings from Laura's Style Boutique . They are the first design from my "Fleur" collection for spring 2011. I will soon begin to carry this floral tote from Talbots. What is stopping me from carrying it right now, you ask? Well, it really isn't big enoug...

Houndstooth ~ It Will NEVER Go Out Of Style!

This gorgeous model is wearing a houndstooth suit and bowler hat by Chanel, 1969, London. I would totally wear this today! This is an exceptional example of timeless  elegance !    I was very inspired to wear my houndstooth blazer today by another fashion blog that I read on a regular basis.  Trends for the Masses (TFTM.)  You may or may not have heard of it. Either way, you should check it out. Very inspiring. Especially if you are at a loss on "what to wear." I also dug out my "spring" bag. I am rebelling against this winter weather we are still having in the northeast! (Yes, it is still snowing here. We just got an additional 6 inches or more today! I have lost all of my faith in Mr. Groundhog!) I always try to match my coffee mug to my look. Don't you?!  (Just kidding. I really don't do this. But today I really found it interesting how cool my black cat mug looked next to my jacket!)  This is R&B artist Monica wearing th...
