The Trend: Drape Dressing The Subject: YOU The Result: A most feminine and gorgeous look! Drape dressing can be so gorgeous. The sad part is that many ladies underestimate the look! A lot of us feel that if we want to be sexy then we must wear our clothes skin tight. If you feel that the tighter the sweater the better, then you better think again. Drape dressing looks amazingly soft and feminine because it gently skims the body instead of hugging it showing every lump or bump. And lets face it. We all have a little lump or a bump that we wish we didn't have. Drape dressing will hide imperfections, but at the same time it won't look like you are trying to hide anything at all! You really can't go wrong when putting these colors together. I love styles of the late 50's early 60's and I feel like this is a look reminiscent of that time. To keep this look cool I wore my hair back in a low chignon. It's not only more comfortable to wear my hair back when I am wearing a shirt with a collar, but I feel like it looks better. When the weather heats up the clothes come off and it's easy to make some wardrobe mistakes when we are dressing for work (or undressing I should say;) This blog post is mostly for those ladies who work in an office setting. If you are lucky enough to work in fashion then it's okay to occasionally raise those hemlines on your shorts and skirts a bit as long as you still look put together. Remember fashion is about your over all look. NOT how much skin you can show.  Now, getting back to the point of this post. See below for my six pet peeves for professional ladies: 1) NO CLEAVAGE is okay at the office. I say that about 2 inches below the collar bone is okay to be exposed. Any more skin exposed than that can make SOME PEOPLES imaginations run wild. And that is not okay at the office ;)  Yeah, this girl looks cute. And she may even be smart. My obsession led me to watch the classic 1948 British film "The Red Shoes." What a fabulous movie! I have been wanting a pair of shiny red shoes for over a year now and do you believe I still haven't found any?! Maine is a gorgeous state but I must say the shopping is quite limited. I kind of lost focus on the red shoe hunt over time. But recently I was grazing through the latest Talbots catalog and my obsession took over again when I saw these!! {see below} The scarlet sling backs on the left are pretty but the platform pumps with a 4 1/3 inch heel on the right are the ones that really caught my eye. But, as beautiful as they may be, what is the point of purchasing a pair of heels that you can't walk in. Wedding season is officially in session, but who says the bride should be all dressed in white? This is Audrey Hepburn dressed in a gorgeous black and white wedding dress by Givenchy in the 1954 film Sabrina. So beautiful and very innovative for that era!  Some brides go out on a limb and wear shades of cream or even pink. I adore Reese Witherspoon's blush colored wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier.{see photo below} The tulle a-line skirt reminds me of a ballerina!  But, who says that the dress has to be bigger and better than your wallet?
