White here, White now!

I have always loved an all white look and summertime is the perfect time to show off your whites! It just looks so clean and pure. So, I am here to remind you to do something daring like this before time is up! I say daring because most ladies that I run into wouldn't dare wear white after labor day. Me on the other hand, I totally would. And I do. I just make sure that my whites are made of heavier fabrics like wool and heavy cotton when the temps cools down.  What I wore: white tiered blouse by New York & Company  white Heritage fit jeans from  Talbots white leather belt from Talbots Talbots navy blue weave peep toe pumps pony tail holder made of sea shells by my son Devin when he was in the 1st grade sailor knot bracelet by American Eagle cubic zirconia earrings from Express What do you think of this look? Would you DARE to wear all white? Below you will see some photos that were my inspiration for this all white look!...

My Birthday Suit (Don't worry. It's not what you think!)

When I came home the other day with this beautiful poppy red jumpsuit by Angie that I found at Marshalls, my husband didn't quite know what to think. He associates this look with something that Charlie's Angels wore, which in my eyes is a good thing. I think it is a good thing to him too, but he said that he had not seen anyone wearing anything like this recently. (remember, we live in central Maine, which is not the most fashionable area in the world.) He thought it was one of my vintage GoodWill finds. I just told him to just wait until he saw it on me. I tried it on with a pair of heels and he said "Ummmm yeah.......it looks good!" To me he still sounded unsure. But he said if YOU like it YOU should wear it! I know he is right, but I kind of wanted him to like it on me. For all you ladies in a relationship, you know what I mean.....;) I like to say that I don't let my man tell me what to do, but when you love someone you always consider their feelings. It j...

Do Not Fear The Snake!

Python prints are HOT for fall, so you better get over your fear of snakes right now!! And if you think these prints are only for "tough girls" then think again. It's all about HOW you wear them. I suggest keeping your look simple and not too harsh. Don't be afraid to mix feminine pieces with snake patterns.   The emerald green shade of this actual python bag by Gucci on the right has got me mesmerized and the mix of colors in the shoe on the left by Dries van Noten is simply divine.  If you are going to wear snake prints to work, then opt for a more subtle pattern in a neutral shade like the blouse on the left from Talbots and the handbag on the right by Cole Haan. I love this Talbots blouse for it's soft feminine details. It is easy to pull of a print like this when it is in such a ladylike form. {Laura's Style Tip: Only wear one snake print at a time. Pick one piece and show it off.} Below you will find the prettiest snake prints in wh...

Fashion and Interior Design Go Hand In Hand. Wouldn't you agree?

I finally had the to chance to visit The Cherished Home in beautiful Belfast, Maine yesterday! (Which also happened to be the HOTTEST day of the year for us Mainers! About 100 degrees if you can believe it!) Well, The Cherished Home had air conditioning thank goodness. It was not only was cool and refreshing when I first walked in, but it also smelled great! If I had my own boutique, I would make it have it's own unique smell too. I think that is one thing that some boutique owners over look. Trust me, when you shop it is all about the feeling you get while you are doing it. If the temperature is comfortable and it smells great you are going to stay longer and shop more! I also believe the kind of music you play sets the tone as well. Music can totally take you to another place which is what you want your shop to do to your customer!  At The Cherished Home you will find rugs, linens and window treatments as well as tableware, accessories for the home, and some...
