Laura's Style Obsession of the Moment ~ Lace Tops

After viewing the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 runway show I have become a bit obsessed with lace. This top by Oscar de la Renta is absolutely gorgeous and I feel as though it will be in style for years to come. We will see lace in fashion trends come and go, but you know what I say. If you LOVE something and you know how to wear it in a way that makes you look and feel your very best, then it's always in style. Keep in mind, it's all about proportion. This seasons longer skirt styles look amazing with a top that is slightly cropped. They counterbalance each other.  So, since I have been obsessing over lace tops I have also been researching. I found this gorgeous little number on Nordstrom's website! I believe it is a must! There are a ton of lacy tops out there. This one happens to be unavailable at the moment, but never fear! You will find one. That is if you are as determined as I am when you want something.

Laura's Style Vid of The Day: Animal prints. Can you? Will you?

Here I am in my animal print glory! Instead of writing a blog post I decided to make a style vid on what to look for when incorporating animal prints into your wardrobe. It can be a bit tricky for some. Especially if you don't like to stand out in a crowd. Even a subtle animal pattern can get you noticed. That is why you must know what to look for and how to wear it! You wouldn't want to get noticed for the wrong reasons would you? Watch the vid below and let me know if this helps a little.

Laura's Style Lovely Look of the Day ~ Ruffles Are Here To Stay!

I don't know which I like better. Color, or black and white. But I do know that no matter how much they say that cleaner lines are the trend for fall I just can't seem to get away from a little ruffle here and there.  The grey blazer toned down my ruffles a bit. I figured that it was tailored enough to totally balanced out my look. I also am fond of wearing bright colors and pairing them with neutrals. Together they seem to create the perfect harmony. What I Wore: ruffled blouse: Target grey blazer: Old Navy  (I actually found this at GoodWill) skinny ankle jeans: Talbots ballet flats: Prima (from DSW ) bracelet: Silpada

small change = HUGE IMPACT

I am feeling a little bit under the weather today so I decided to stay home once and for all and REST! I had a great day of lounging and napping. Once noon hit I was getting a little antsy. I have been thinking about cutting my bangs for a few weeks now. And since I was alone with no one to interrupt, I decided that today was the day. Here are my new bangs! This is me before. Below you will find the video that inspired me to cut my bangs. I totally followed Ted's advice and voila! I have great bangs! Such a small change can create a HUGE IMPACT! Next I am going to try some more layers like Emma Stone pictured on the September 2011 issue of People Style Watch. Then maybe some more highlights. Gradual is better then getting it done all at once when it comes to my hair. I think it's the safest way to go for most ladies.

FASHION'S NIGHT OUT at TALBOTS in Bangor, Maine!

{from left to right: Marion, Maria, Sarah, Cindy, Laura (that's me the TALBOTS stylist and hostess for the evening;), Keri, Jeni and Deb. I want to thank these ladies for their support and passion for  FASHION!}  As you may already know, New York, Milan and Paris are in the middle of fashion week. Fashion week is when designers show off their latest designs and in this case it is the spring/resort collections. TONS of work goes into every fashion show. It does not consist of throwing clothes on a model and having them walk down the cat walk. It involves the scenery, the stage, the lights, the music, the timing of it all, then it's clothes being fitted to each model, the accessories, the hair and makeup and I am sure that is just the least of it! Wouldn't I just LOVE to be a part of all that hard work!  Well, in honor of fashion week, thousands of retailers in big cities celebrate FASHION'S NIGHT OUT ever year on September 8th. They stay open all night for you...

Laura's Lovely Look Of The Day ~ Seeing Spots!

What I wore: Talbots Hollywood dot pinktuck top Talbots twist loop bib necklace Talbots side zip skinny ankle denim crops  peep toe bow pumps by LifeStride What I like about this look: I felt a little old Hollywood/Grease(the movie)/rocker when sporting this look! I love polka dots and this polka dot blouse can be dressed up to the max or it can be worn more relaxed like I have chosen to do. The side zip skinny crops remind me of something a Pink Lady might have worn in the movie Grease. I just LOVE that movie! The necklace gives this look a little rocker vibe which makes it look a little less cutesy. The necklace brings to mind a little bit of a Lanvin look. (see photo below, for a gorgeous Lanvin necklace that Demi Moore is modeling)

The Classics Are Back..................

................and you may be suprised to realize that they never actually left! Just maybe a teeny bit forgotten. Well it's about time that we got back to what is right here in America! With all the newness that comes with each era it is easy to forget about the potential that the classics hold for your look every day. Trends come and go, but there are really some great basic pieces that exist. And if you don't have 'em in your wardrobe then you literally won't be able to get dressed! And please don't think that I frown upon the latest trends. I am all about them!! Without a little newness, bordom would set in. We are only human! (It's unfortunate really. I have always wished I had a super power or two;) But, if we only purchase trendy items, especially trendy items that don't work for our bodies, then we will become very frustrated when getting dressed. I am so happy that fashion designers are celebrating the classics this fall. As they are the core o...
