Why Whisk Away Your Whites Now???

Yeah, yeah. No white after Labor Day. I have heard that saying so much that now I just want to rebel! Well, I am not much of a rebel, if you must know. Just when it comes to fashion. I tend to break rules every now and then. But I always try to make it work for me. So, since it is getting cooler out, of course I am going to put away my white linens. But I am keeping the heavier whites within reach. Such as my white jeans. I love the way gray and white work together for fall. I would LOVE this over sized sweater from ASOS with a pair of white jeans. (see center photo) What do you think?

Would You Mix Tweeds With Florals?

I sure would........... And I did :) The gorgeous weather we have been having in the state of Maine may have contributed to my recent pattern mixing. I know that fall is in the air, so it's time to take out the tweeds. But I'm also hesitating to put away the spring and summer floral patterns because of the warm sunny weather we have been having. As you know, in fashion some say that there are rules to follow. I say that there are some rules to go by, but some of these  rules should be broken. It is a fine line. To me looking your best is about how something works on YOU. It takes a lot of experimenting to achieve an amazing look, especially when you want to try something new and move out of your box. You may not even realize how fabulous something looks on you until you try, and even then you still may not realize! That's why people hire people like me! A fashion stylist may be someone you may want to have in your life. Just sayin'....... ;) What I wore: ...

Bring A Little "Hollywood" into Your Closet

Michael Kors High waist style pants or "Hollywood" waist pants are one of those timeless pieces that you will want to have and hold onto for years to come. Just make sure the fit is flattering. What makes for a flattering fit you ask? Just make sure they are cut straight down from the hip instead of body hugging. You want a pant that just skims over your body to show your feminine figure. This does not mean tight, nor does is mean baggy. When trying on pants at the store, just take a step back and look in a three way mirror. Shut your eyes and count to three, and then open them again and take a look. This is a technique that I use very often. I feel that shutting your eyes helps take you away for a few seconds and then opening them lets you refocus. By doing this you may discover flaws that you wouldn't have discovered before. Pretend that you are just seeing yourself walking into a room for the first time. Are you saying "Wow, what an amazing look!" ? ...

Girlz Nite Out! (Inspired by Lanvin)

Okay, now press play on the video before you go any further......  IT'S GIRLZ NITE OUT!  I thought this video was so fun to watch! (LOOOVE the tune by Pitbull .) My look is just slightly more casual, but my moves are just as cool. Wouldn't you agree? I love how the camera captured the models moves, so I thought I would try it for myself. By watching the video you will see that you don't have to know how to dance in order to dance. Who would have known that these models are just about as graceful as Daffy Duck?! But they sure do photograph well! I promise I won't show you actual video footage of my moves. That would be a little much for you to take...;) What I wore: black Gap tank Gap eyelet vest Talbots black wash Signature fit straight leg jeans Talbots metallic leather weave belt Dansko shoes Silpada ring bracelets from Banana Republic earrings from Bella Luna Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish in Grey Matter (I applied it o...

My Monday Melodrama

We all know how we can feel on a Monday. If you are lucky enough to actually have a two day weekend, Mondays can feel a little groggy. One more day off would have been nice, but that is just not reality. Fortunately you have a job, which is why you always try to make the best of it. My Monday called for a little pick me up. Inside my head I know that it is not only me who needs to keep on keeping on, but it is also my clients who need to do the same. If I look bright and cheerful on a Monday and can inspire someone to feel a little more blissful, then I have accomplished my mission. Day 3 Hair. It's Not As Frightening As You May Think!

Recently I came across an article in my Harper's Bazaar magazine about how to have soft and shiny hair. As my hair gets longer it becomes more of an issue to wash it. Or should I say DRY it. My hair is thick and it seems to hold water, so washing, drying and styling it in the morning is getting to be out of the question. Everyone has been telling me for years that I should only wash my hair once or twice a week. But my scalp got greasy! They seem to have left out the part where you can just use baby powder at your roots to absorb oils and it freshens the scalp too! Now they make dry shampoos to do this same trick, but I would rather spend my money on something else. So I settle on the baby powder and it works! Today is day 3 of not washing my hair. A little baby powder at my scalp and a chic chignon is how I am rolling today. Tomorrow I will wash. Every 4th day seems to be as far as I can go. And it's true! My hair looks and feels softer and shinier!
