Laura's Style Fashion Item of the Month {March 2012}

Here they are! My one and only purchase for the month of March. TALBOTS Signature Fit Floral Super Crops . My first reaction when I saw these was that they were a bit wild and crazy. I normally don't wear a big print especially in a pant. Don't ask me why. I have been known to wear bold patterned skirts. What's the difference? I guess I feel like pants have more fabric so there is more boldness happening down there and like most women, I didn't want to attract more attention to my hips. After seeing tons of bold floral print pants all over fashion magazines for spring 2012 I decided to give them a try. And you know what? I decided that I could do this! I would just pair them with something very simple on top to quiet them down a bit. Here's what I came up with: ~ Talbots black sateen peplum blouse with bow ~ Talbots charm bracelet ~ Talbots pearl necklace ~ Silpada pearl necklace worn as a bracelet ~ Silpada pearl ring ~9.2.5 black bow pumps...

Pleats a Plenty!

{ American Apparel } This spring it's all about lady like looks and what could possibly more ladylike than a pleated skirt?!  However, pleats can sometimes be difficult for some women to wear. They may feel that if they are a little heavy in the hip area then a pleated skirt is out of the question. But this is simply not true! Just pair it with a longer style jacket or a flattering wrap style blouse that can be worn on the outside of the skirt. This will flatter your hips and elongate your body. The pleats create a fun flirty look. Think pleats are old fashioned and remind you of your grandmother? Well, who says that's a bad thing?? Grandma was quite stylish in her day! Now it's your turn to put your spin on the pleat. How will you wear this trend this spring? Send your pictures of how you wear pleats to Laurasstyle@hotmail.com and you may see yourself here on Laura's Style Digital Fashion Mag ! {Gucci resort on the left, Talbots on the right} { Kat...

Patty and THE Purse!

 Once upon a time Patty came strolling through the door carrying this bold and beauteous Botkier bag. Immediately Laura noticed the bag and almost passed out before it's beauty. Patty explained to Laura that she was undecided whether or not to keep the bag. Laura said "You'd be crazy to not keep that bag! It's quite possibly the most beautiful bag I have ever seen!" Patty listened but still was in question. {This is my friend and colleague, Patty} As the day went by Laura would glance at this bag sitting quietly in the corner of the break room. As quiet as it was it spoke in VOLUMES with it's vibrant colors. She kept telling Patty that she must keep this bag! And you know what? She did! For it would be a shame to see this Botkier baby sent back! {This is the Botkier Eden Satchel. It's available right here .} Isn't it gorgeous with all of it's details?? And the colors of this bag are so on trend right now, yet I do believe that this...

How To Care For Your Designer Clothing

So, you just purchased your first designer piece. It broke the budget, but was it worth it?? To you, yes of course it was worth it. To someone who doesn't understand the art of fashion, it was probably the stupidest thing they have ever heard of. I am here to tell you that I get it. Fashion is much more than just something you wear. It is art. It is self expression. And how do you care for your "self expressions"? That my darling is a tough one. If you live in NYC then the answer is easy. You would just transport your masterpiece to Madame Paulette on Second Avenue and leave the rest up to the trusted professionals that work there.    But what if you live in say.....Maine, and you just so happen to love fashion and purchase one designer piece a year (if that)? What do you do when you need that item cleaned? You know you can't go without spilling a drop of wine on that Burberry trench dress forever. Unfortunately you will have to send your designer pieces to th...

The Satchel Is In!! Hobo, You're OUT!

This my dears is a satchel in the photo below. And it is the style bag that you want for spring 2012. Say goodbye to that slouchy hobo bag you've been carrying for who knows how long, and say "Hello satchel!"   {Vanessa Bruno Athe Blue Fabric Satchel from ASOS } A satchel will give your look the freshness you need this spring. What's the difference between a satchel and a hobo style bag you ask?? A hobo bag is very slouchy and relaxed looking. See the photos below for example:  Now, I am not saying that hobo bag is terrible or will never come back. I am just saying that it is not the trend of the moment. The hobo bag pictured above by Gabor is magnificent! You can find it here . A satchel has cleaner lines and has more of a boxy shape. It's a classic yet it's modern. The satchel is a trend that you can count on making an appearance time and time again. Below you will find my favorite SATCHELS for SPRING 2012!: { ASO...

Off The Cuff!

The cuff. One of my most favorite must haves for spring 2012! You can spend a lot or a little. I dream about the cuff above by  Philippe Audibert . It is one of my favorites. You can find it on Net-a-Porter . Below you will find me modeling my pretty yet affordable cuff that I found at Charlotte Russe a few months ago. Who would know that this pretty little thing was under $10??? Here are more examples of my most favorite cuffs in all the land: { Armenta Scalloped Oxidized Cuff } { Lanvin Wing Cuff } { Tory Burch Wide Logo Cuff } { Hoorsenbuhs Red Nubuck Strap Cuff } P.S. The trend right now is to wear more than one cuff at a time. I happen to adore this look. {Photo courtesy of Tommy Ton }

How Do YOU Make YOUR Garden Grow?

Spring hasn't quite sprung yet here in Maine. (I just woke up and the thermometer read 21 degrees!) But that doesn't mean that I am not soooo looking forward to it! And with spring on it's way you know what that means, don't you? FLOWERS!  And once again we are seeing floral prints on all the runway models for spring 2012. See below for some gorgeous looks by some magnificent designers: {Marc Jacobs} {Nanette Lepore} {Miu Miu} {Valentino} And below you will find my own floral garden (this is the only kind I can successfully grow.) Every year I seem to purchase another flowered friend. The floral trend is one that you can count on NEVER going out of style. I even seem to wear some in winter! So feel safe when you make your floral purchase this spring. And no watering is needed! {Can you guess which floral piece is my latest purchase?}
