The Timeless Elegance of Jacqueline Kennedy

I was totally inspired this past Sunday evening as I relaxed with a glass of wine on the sofa with my cat as my husband was cooking diner. I actually had control of the remote and began flipping through the HD channels until I came to  QVC . Usually when I turn to QVC there is some type of camera or big screen TV that they are trying to sell so I continue to flip. Not this time. They were selling replicas of Jacqueline Kennedy's jewels and accessories! But it wasn't just about the jewels they were selling that inspired me. In fact, I didn't order a thing! It was the amazing man who was telling stories about her life and each piece and what it meant to her. It was the meaning behind it all that really inspired me. It was all about the feeling it gave me. She was such a fashion icon. Her style was simple, yet not just anyone could pull it of like she did. This goes to show you that fashion is not just about the clothes you wear. It is about being you, and being the best yo...

Bathing Beauties! Laura's Top Picks For The Summer of 2010

{Shay Todd cutout swimsuit with handkerchief ruffle} This bathing suit literally took my breath away. Can you say STUNNING? Summer is officially here and soon you might be lucky enough to be taking a vacation. On my perfect vacation I would be laying on a beach at a resort where all you have to do is put that little flag up on your chair and a cute cabana boy rushes over to refresh your Sex on the Beach;-) Of course a cute bathing suit and sunglasses are necessities and here I have my top picks for the Summer of 2010. {Balenciaga over sized silver tone square frame sunglasses} Picture these worn with the Shay Todd bathing suit above. How extremely elegant:-) {sunglasses by Chanel} I actually know someone who owns these babies. I tried them on and had a really hard time giving them back. I have to say, they looked fabulous on me ;-) They also would look fabulous worn with the two bathing suits pictured below. {bathing suit by Emilio Pucci} The cutouts are so sexy....

I Couldn't Hold Out Any Longer!

Beacon Hill exotic coin purse from Talbots I have been eyeing this little beauty for waaay too long. Today was the day that I couldn't hold myself back any longer. I have been needing a small bag like this for when I am out and about running errands. It is just the right size for carrying my debit card, licence, lip gloss, a small compact, and some business cards. That tote bag is getting really heavy and what a pain to drag around especially when you like to move fast like I do:-) This little bag will serve it's purpose well. I will take it on trips as well as carry it as an evening bag in the hot summer months. Plus, how cute would it look if I go out dancing, which I never do. Not because I don't like to, but because there is no place up to my standards in the Bangor, Maine area. Sorry, but it's true:-( But if dancing at a club is in my future, I will have the perfect little bag!

Put Away Those Spikes and Get Ladylike!!

clas·sic  [ klas - ik ]  1.  of   enduring   interest,   quality,   or   style:   a   classic   design When I found out that ladylike low heels are all the rage for Fall 2010 I had to hold myself back from sighing out loud with relief!! I couldn't let my colleagues know that I had been in pain all this time! That wouldn't be glamorous! Being a retired ballerina has given me both the discipline and grace that one must possess in order to wear three to four inch heels for a nine hour workday. Okay, so taking all that pain isn't the healthiest thing in the world, but fashion is not usually comfortable, right? Well, the three classic shoe styles pictured below are fairly comfortable, are my top picks for summer, and are in style ALL THE TIME. How can we wait until fall to sport the lower heels? It's simple. We can't! And we don't have to. They are a classic. Valentino open toe couture pump. Everyone needs a red pump to add that pop...

Summer Boho~Can Anyone Pull Off This Look?

Today is the first official day of summer and what kind of summer would it be without sporting the bohemian look? It is such an easy look to achieve and it is oh so comfortable on those hot days. You will look super COOL even when the weather is HOT! Just keep your hair very simple and make up to a minimum. Some people try for the boho look and don't completely succeed because they either over do (too much make up and over done hair) or under do (no make up and nothing done to the hair) There is a fine line to achieve the boho look so be careful. I just love the bohemian look that Nichole Richie has been sporting lately. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has helped her out with this and it really suits her! Can anyone pull off this look? What do you think? Dress available at  Boston Proper Just look at the gorgeousness of these earrings by Lucky brand! I can totally picture them being worn with the dress in the above photo. Wear your hair down with these and every once in a while...

What's Your Summer Color??

Summer is such a refreshing time of year. We all take vacations, go to parties, meet new friends, exercise more. (at least I do) I also feel like I just need a little something different in my closet to pep up my step a bit and make the most of the summer months. This summer I have picked the color yellow to give my wardrobe a boost. This isn't usually my 'go to color' but recently I have come across many gorgeous shades of yellow that actually look great on my not so tan skin tone. Hard to believe, I know. Everyone knows that when you have a tan, which most of us do in the summer, then you are able to wear most any color. Nowadays I don't sit out in the sun without a hat and sunblock so the skin color stays a lovely shade of pale. Self tanner helps but it doesn't completely give me the color I used to have when the sun used to kiss it (or damage it.) So getting back to the clothes. Here are some lovely yellow picks for the wardrobe this summer. You may be surprise...

Laura's Style Necessity~THE TRENCH DRESS

The trench dress is one of my greatest style necessities. I knew that I was buying a classic when I found my Burberry double breasted trench dress (pictured in the left photo) a couple of years ago on Ebay. It is a piece that will never go out of style and I will always reach for it during the summer months when I want something that looks professional yet cool. It is a really easy piece to wear since it requires little thought to style. Just pop on a scarf, simple cz or pearl earrings, and some really cool pumps and I am good to go! If you don't already own one of these you just might need to think about it. A great look for the office, yet can look really sexy for an evening out as well. It's all about how you accessorize.                                 Burberry                                       ...

'Tre' Hugging :-)

I love really cool and unique rings and while surfing the Internet this evening I happened to come across these fabulous glass gems! Aren't they super cool?! Tre rings are so bold that they stand alone. Not much else is needed.....well, other than clothes. The over sized 'Anita' glass bubble rings give me so much pleasure that I was thinking that I might need to own one. I was even more thrilled when I saw that the price tag was within my budget! They all are under $100! Find yours at Nordstrom . No two pieces are exactly the same. And for every one purchased, a tree will be planted. Now that makes me feel even better;-)
