What Is Black and White and RED All Over? YOU!

{Red leather ruffled jacket~Valentino}
When people think of the color red they automatically think POWER! At least that's what many surveys say. But I am here to tell you that as a stylist, I don't see nearly enough red in ladies wardrobes as there should be. I always see plenty of black and white though.....mostly black. What you all need to know is that red is the perfect color to make your black and white POP! And before you start thinking that red is not your color, please stop. There are a ton of different shades of red out there which means that there is one for you. You just might need to take the time to determine which one looks good on you, or you may have to hire a stylist such as myself ;)
This handbag by Trussardi 1911 has just the perfect amount of red to make it more interesting than your average black bag. Don't get me wrong, a black bag is great. But this is just a tad more fun.
The red patent leather boots on the right are by David Tate and the gorgeous pumps on the right are the Carrie pump by Calvin Klein. I am quite fond of the Carrie shoe, but what caught my eye on both of these was the black block heel. It gives that mod feel to your many modern day looks.
{Take special notice of the shoes! Fabulous!}
 The ad campaign from White House Black Market is one of my favorites this season. It really caught my eye since their ads are usually, well, black and white. The pop of red makes it so much more interesting, but I have to say that White House Black Market usually has it goin' on anyway. Keep scrolling down to see more photos from the White House Black Market ad campaign.

{Believe it or not, it's Talbots!}
Even Talbots is on board with the whole red idea! I am adoring this red suit that the one and only Linda Evangelista is modeling.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
