TREND ALERT: HIGH WAISTED JEANS

{Gap wide leg trouser jeans}
 Just when you thought you had the low rise and the skinny jean look down pat, here is another curve ball that fashion has once again thrown at you! High waisted wide leg jeans are back!! Now wait a minute, I am not telling you to get your "mom" jeans back out. We all know that when trends return there is always a new twist. The jeans of now are yes, high waisted, but not to the extreme. They will be higher than you are accustomed to if you were just getting used to the low rise style. But they will not, in most circumstances, actually sit on your high waist. They will just sit comfortably at the waist area instead of below it.
{These jeans are from Forever 21. You will see that they sit at the waist, but the legs are more of a boot cut. A fit that will flatter most body types}
 I must admit that I am super excited to see exactly how long it takes for the young ladies of this land to catch on to this trend. It seems that it took no time at all for the low rise to catch on......a very unfortunate look for some.....

{A look from Rebecca Taylor with higher rise jeans}

{A look from Jason Wu. These are not jeans, but they are a great example of a gorgeous look incorporating a higher rise pant}
 Then again the higher rise jean is not meant for all body types.
As with any trend, you have to be body conscious. I have always had a hard time with anything in a high rise. I have a really short waist and long legs.
Here I am wearing about the highest rise that can accommodate my body type. These are my precious Anlo jeans.

And I must mention that if you have a long waist, this look will be your friend :) Any high waisted pant will work for you girls who are lucky enough to have a long torso. In fact they will totally flatter you.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
