Spring CLEANING!

{This is a look from Calvin Klein's spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection. You can always count on Calvin Klein for those clean lines and pure colors. Calvin Klein is the first designer that comes to my mind when the word minimalist is uttered.}

You Cannot Hide Behind Spring's Minimalist Looks! When I think of the minimalist trend that is so hot this spring I think of clean lines, color blocking, bold colors, definite shapes and a very brave women who can wear all of these looks! These looks may seem very simple, in the fact that there are no bells and whistles, no ruffles and lace, no layers upon layers and no where to hide. When a lady wears any of these minimalist looks I feel like she is really showing herself to the world. She is not hiding behind a costume. It is just good clean FASHION.
This is a bold statement square bag that I adore by Proenza Schouler. Perfect for the office. You could fit a really big sandwich in there! I LOVE this bold emerald green color.
Even designers like Shaun Kearney for Cynthia Steffe are on board with the whole minimalist movement. Cynthia Steffe is usually know for her ruffles and frills. I think Shaun Kearney did a fabulous job balancing out his collection to reflect the most modern Cynthia Steffe girl. Click HERE to view his entire Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection to see what I mean. The ruffles and cutouts were not left out. They were just left to a MINIMAL. (get it;))
Of course some of you are thinking minimalist is boring. But as you can see here with this look from Jill Sander it is far from boring. How could this possibly make you yawn? Yes, very minimal clothes and very clean lines, but look at that BURST of COLOR!! This is one of my favorite looks from this collection, but if you'd like to see more just click HERE.
These are some of my favorite minimalist bracelets for spring 2011.

What is going to be the one minimalist piece that you seek out this spring? Mine is going to be a red pencil skirt like this one below from See by Chloé.

I feel like I could really do a lot with this skirt...........see my examples below:

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
