Cute & Comfy! Who'd a Thunk??!!

Do cute and comfy shoes exist? This question always seems to remain unanswered. I am going to be very truthful and tell you yes. Cute and comfy shoes do exist. How about sexy and comfy shoes? I am going to tell you no. I have never met a sexy shoe that I could actually wear while walking around at work for 8-10 hours a day. You know what I mean by sexy don't you? I am talking like 4 inch or higher heel, strappy, open toe, etc. So, lets settle for cute and comfy and be done with it. Save the sexy stilettos for ummmm...... never. Except for where you can sit down a lot. Like every 20 minutes. Stand for 20, sit for 30. You got it :) And now I am going to show you my favorite spring shoes that you can go anywhere and do anything in. You can stand, walk and in my case, because I can't help it, practically run everywhere, look cool and be super productive all day long!  These "Ibis" oxfords by Born are my latest and greatest. I call them my jazz shoes. I could liter...

Kim's Session With Laura's Style

Last week Kim Corey CEO of Finely Sorted Organizing Service came to my house and helped me organize my drawers. See my blog post titled  Getting Organized With Kim . (which inspired me to organize my closet this past weekend. I will write a blog post about that later;) The next day I went to her closet to help her rediscover how to wear what she already has as well as make a list of things she needs to make the most out of her existing wardrobe. Here are some of the things she said about our style session together: "I was proud of my organized year-round wardrobe of one closet, one dresser and four pairs of shoes.  I could see everything at a glance and had few bells and whistles to complicate function.  My wardrobe was “acceptable” until after perusing her blog, Facebook page and meeting her in person I realized  I was  missing out on the fun of clothes and the possibility to be noticed  for  je ne sais quoi ..panache." ...

Laura's Style's Fashion Item{s} Of The Month

TA DA!!!! Here they are!! My fashion picks for the month of April! (which is almost over BTW and I can't believe how fast life is spinning!) Above you will find my latest make up purchase. Maybelline's "the falsies" Volum' Express mascara. Trust me, I am no make up artist, but in my opinion this stuff works as good as Dior Show. Except the Maybelline version only cost me $7.00 vs the Dior costing $25.00. I actually have tried both and honestly see no reason to spend all that money when you can get the same effect for much less. Even if I was rich, I would still choose the Maybelline ;) And this is the garment I chose to purchase for April. It is the navy blue peplum top from ASOS. You may have seen me wearing this top in my Lovely Looks of the Day on Facebook . I just couldn't wait any longer to wear it!! By clicking here you may purchase a similar version. The one I purchased seems to be now out of stock. I wore it with my ikat skirt from Talbots...

Getting Organized With Kim

Laura's Style would like to introduce Kim Corey of Finely Sorted . Kim is an organizer. What does she organize you ask? Absolutely anything you want or need her assistance with. I happened to need help with organizing my dresser drawers. I had way too much "stuff" and too little room. Kim began with assessing my "space".  She took everything out one drawer at a time and asked me if I used everything in each one. Fortunately I am not a hoarder. I usually don't purchase anything unless I need it and if I don't need it and I buy it anyway, I end up purging something in order to fit the new item in it's place. Regardless of my frugal ways I somehow managed to accumulate more "stuff" than I had time to wear. She asked me how often I did my laundry? I told her once a week. And I don't wash my pj's every time I wear them. So why do I need ten tops to wear to bed when I am only wearing my three favorite ones? The answer is simple. I don...

Now It's Time For YOUR {Fashion} Lesson TEACHERS!

Teachers, do you think that kids don't notice how you dress? Think again. It was just about all I noticed back in grade school. Granted the stylist in me has always been in the works, but now that I look back, I truly do believe that the teachers that were the best dressed got the most respect. Oh, don't get me wrong! The ones that were dressed geeky, old farty, and phys ed-ie got attention. Just the wrong kind of attention. All we could do is what kids do best when it came to these fashion faux pas type teachers. Make fun of them! Behind their backs of course. We never paid attention to a single word coming out of their mouths! So, as the little scholar that I once was and the stylist that I am now, I am gonna teach all you teachers how to get dressed.  Tip #1  Never show any type of cleavage or leg above the knee. Make sure to do the sit test before you buy a skirt. If the skirt comes above your knee when you sit don't wear it to school. And just make...
