Rockin' The Polka Dot

There is just something about polka dots. When you look at them you get a feeling of pure joy and happiness! In a bad mood? Here is a simple fix. Just rock the polka dot and instantly your mood will be elevated into pure joy! Don't believe me? Just try it sometime. You'll see.
I am going gaga over this Marni bag and these Nicholas Kirkwood sandals. I can't afford either one of them, but I can dream!

This reversible polka dot belt by Liz Claiborne is super cool and very versatile. Perfect for the practical polka dot lover :)

You've gotta love these polka dot vintage Levis 501 jeans by House of Holland for LuLu & Co. These would be really cool worn with a very simple fitted black tee and some flat strappy sandals.

Strappy black sandals by Matt Bernson. Black fitted v neck tee from Gap.

I ADORE this reversible polka dot blouse by Haute Hippie. It's so flow-y and pretty and you can wear it with the tie in the front or in the back. Lovely.

The bratty and beautiful Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl wearing a gorgeous polka dot dress. Uhmmm where is her other shoe??? I must have missed that episode.

And below is a video that I found by an adorable young lady named Tavi on how to create a bee-hive up do in five minutes. I thought this style would work well with your polka dots. Plus she is so cute and adorable and she reminds me of myself at that age. If only I had the technology back then, I might be famous by now...;)

And I will end this blog post with this last photo of breathtaking polka dot inspiration created by Tim Walker for Vogue Italia. Amazing!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
