"WATCH" This!

A watch isn't just a time teller. It's one of fashion's greatest accessories! I must confess that I have never been one to wear a watch. I feel like it gets in the way of my look. It's distracting.  Meanwhile, I have admired watches on others and have observed how they actually make a watch part of their look. This would be difficult for me, since this may mean that I need to own more than one watch. The only watch on the planet that I would want to wear with anything and everything is a Philip Stein watch. That's my dream watch. See photo below: We all know that my budget is tight, so I must learn to settle. I have been admiring the way a white watch looks on a ladies wrist in the summer. But, you know me! I simply can't be just like everyone else! So I walked into Macy's about a week ago with my $10 birthday coupon in hand. I decided to scope out the sale watches. Tons of cool white watches! I tried a few on. They just didn't look the same ...

Laura's Style's Jump Start on Fall Trends for 2012!

The end of July is coming closer. And then there is August. Some fun in the sun is still left in the month of September. But let's face it. Cold cool weather is coming whether we like it or not. Here is my list of must have trends for fall 2012 just to give you a jump start on your thought process. 1. Granny Chic   {Left: Carolina Hererra. Right: Oscar de la Renta} {Left: L'Wren Scott. Right: Oscar de la Renta} By granny chic I don't mean to literally dress like your grandmother. I just mean take a few tips from the wise {older} lady. Lower the hemline on your skirts to below your knee. A longer style fitted pencil skirt can look very sexy. Wear a shawll, but make it something more fitted. Kind of like a sweater tube. Wear ladylike dresses. Button up your blouse collar {all the way} when layering them under sweaters and cardis or wear a pretty ruffled blouse under a cardigan. The idea is to keep the look fitted so you don't look like a bag lady....

Two Different Looks. One FABULOUS Dress!

Some may say that a dress is a dress. You put it on. It looks great. And you are out the door. FABULOUS! But, I have heard that some ladies opt for purchasing a skirt instead of a dress because they feel like they can style the skirt many different ways, where a dress will look the same every time you put it on. This can sometimes be true. UNLESS you use accessories, make-up, and your hair style to change the look! See my photo's below to see how I changed the look of this  TALBOTS   paisley sheath by changing my accessories, make-up and hair: As you can see the look on the left is more retro and the look on the right is more glam. In the fall, you may see me wearing this dress with black tights, high black boots and a denim jacket. How would you wear this dress? Please share!

Pant Styles. Which one is for you?

Let's face it. Finding pair of pants that fit perfectly can be very difficult to find. In most cases nearly impossible. And if you are like most women, you end up giving up and settling for whatever is on trend whether it looks good on you or not. My advise to you is DON'T DO THAT! An ill fitting pair of pants can be not only uncomfortable, but also quite scary to your fellow friends. They probably won't tell you that they look bad, unless you ask. And more than likely, you won't ask, and your life will go on while you are wearing a pair of pants that look and feel terrible. There are three basic pant fits out there. The skinny pant. The flare leg pant. And the straight cut pant. (See the photos above from left to right)  Below you will find my description of each pant and who it looks good on: 1. The skinny pant looks good on, well I hate to say it, but I will. Skinny people look good in skinny pants. That's easy to remember, right? Now here is th...

I Am Mixing It Up....AGAIN!

Here I go again mixing patterns! I have to admit, that I copied this look from a fabulous blog titled "Seeking Chic" which is a blog that talks about the design operations and inspirations behind the scene's at Talbots. The photo below is one of the many that WOWED me on their site: I was a tad sad when I found out that "my" Talbots did not carry the exact skirt design that the model is wearing in the photo above. I think it might have been specifically designed for this photo shoot. However, they did create a pencil skirt in this same pattern as well as the blouse in the exact same tiny floral pattern that the model is wearing. You will find me wearing this mixed up floral look in the photo's below:  ~ Talbots blouse, skirt, belt and bracelets ~vintage earrings ~t-strap peep toe pumps by Beautifeel Click HERE to view my past post about tips on mixing and matching patterns.

My Mermaid Eyes

Every morning go online looking for inspiration. Today's make up inspiration came from Elle Magazine. Watch the video right HERE to see how CK One Color make up artist Hung Vanngo created the "mermaid eye" above. And below You will find my interpretation of the "mermaid eye".  I used a combo of Mac and Maybelline eyeshadows as well as Cover Girl eye liner and mascara. Here is what I used to create my "mermaid eye". Will you give this a try this summer??
