Hannity vs. Vanity

VS. Normally I steer clear from talking about politics, especially on my precious fashion blog that I have been writing for almost four years now. I have my opinions and there are certain issues that I feel strongly about. I for one believe that we do not acknowledge our soldiers anywhere nearly enough for the most important work they do for our country day and night. I also realize that we (Americans) don't understand even half of what these men and women go through for our country because the press and the politicians only tell us half the story.  Truth be known, life is hell on Earth for humanity. That was really difficult to say, because I don't like to admit that life isn't really a bowl of cherries. But what are we supposed to do? Go around with our heads hanging low, letting ourselves be dragged down by a society of haters, warmongers, and crazy political press? I think not! Since the beginning of time there has been war. And ...

It's Hip to be Square

These sensible square heals worn in the Louis Vuitton 2013 Ready-To-Wear collection really caught my attention. Not only are they super unique, but they are totally wearable! {Watch the entire Louis Vuitton 2013 Ready-to Wear fashion show below.}  {WARNING: IT IS AMAZING!} Below is a modified version of some super fabulous square heels from TALBOTS .  Meet Brina from TALBOTS I am officially naming these my must have shoe for spring 2013! And below you will find a few more of my favorite "squares" for spring. {On the left, Nicholas Kirkwood . On the right, Salvatore Ferragamo } { Kate Spade Dijon Bow Heel }

The Art of Mixing Patterns

When I first saw this look in Talbots Spring 2013 Look Book , I immediately fell in love. I knew that this entire look was going to be a must have for me. Now, you are probably wondering if I truly would wear it this way. My answer to that is ABSOLUTELY! Now, this look may not work for everyone. You may not be the pattern mixing kind. I feel that it does work though. The materials are cotton on both garments, and the fact that she has accessorized with the gold bracelets which then reflect on the gold flower centers in the skirt. It would be reallllly cute if one of her bracelets were actually gold flowers. I am in LOVE with the little lady bug clutch bag too. We cannot see the shoes that the stylist chose to go with this look, but I personally would wear nude pumps and bare legs. However, I would also wear this skirt now pairing it with a black turtleneck, tucked in nice and smooth, black opaque tights and some sleek black knee high boots. This is the sam...

My "New" Vintage Ralph Lauren Shoes

I just can't get over the fabulousness of these velveteen Vintage Ralph Lauren shoes! They were given to me by a great friend and incredible mentor (Who for privacy purposes will remain nameless. I know you understand ;) They are probably from the mid 1990's. There are so many features about these shoes that I love. For one, the initials RL are embroidered with the finest gold thread. And the fact that they are brown velvet instead of black is so interesting. The block heel is super sturdy and not to mention back on trend at this very moment. I could go on and on........but instead I will let you look below to see how I wore them:  ~Talbots velvet "vixen" jacket ~Talbots "vixen" signature fit ankle cords ~Talbots flower belt ~Gap blouse ~CK earrings  ~Vintage cameo ring ~Vintage Ralph Lauren shoes ~OPI nail color in "Golden Eye"

Denim in Vogue.....and in Laura's Style

Denim in Vogue ....... {Michaela Bercu for Vogue. November 1988} ..........and in Laura's Style Do you think editor in chief of  American Vogue, Anna Wintour, made it okay to mix denim with more refined garments after she paired a Christian Lacroix sweater with a pair of acid washed jeans on the November 1988 cover of Vogue? Model,   Michaela Bercu, (very top photo)   was too chubby to fit into the matching Lacroix skirt. (Btw, she was prego. The model that is;) So, does Anna Wintour get the credit for the mix and match look, or is this something that had been going on for years? Maybe she gets the credit for being brave enough to mix a $2000 designer sweater with a $50 pair of jeans and maybe she gets the credit for putting it on the cover of Vogue. But I believe that women who love fashion have been mixing and matching for years. I for one love denim. There is just something about putting something rough with something smooth, something dull with...

The Perfect Dress to Wear to Your Pan Am Reunion

That title was just to get your attention. A little black dress can be worn to many more events than a Pan Am reunion. I only said that because the other day I actually assisted a lady in finding one to wear to her Pan Am reunion out in LA! Pretty nifty. I was so interested in hearing her story. I wish that I was going to the reunion with her! Or to just be a fly on the wall of their conversations would be fantastic. She said that they used to actually cook rib eye steaks on the plane to serve to their 1st class flyers! If you were flying coach you would also get steak, but it was strips. I could handle that. They would make each and every flyer a drink of their choice and would make everyone feel so comfortable on the plane as if they were in their own living room. And the one thing I didn't know, Pan Am did not fly domestically. They only flew overseas. Today Pan Am is remembered as a luxury airline largely by people who never flew it. T hey were aimed at getti...
