Today is "What did you buy?" FRIDAY!

As I have stated previously, I am not going to purchase anymore shoes that hurt my feet. With that being said I am sort of on a comfortable shoe kick. Last week I found two fabulous styles at a discount store and this week, well I found these Strawberry beauties by Miz Mooz at Zappos . Another feature that I look for in a shoe is a go-with-anything type look. I want to be able to wear them  with dresses, full length pants, cropped pants and even shorts. These Miz Mooz Strawberry shoes will function well with all of the above.  Below you will find just one way I wore my new Miz Mooz shoes: And I just couldn't bare to crop out my sweet little man (kitty cat). See him in the lower right? His name is Spice, but I call him little man. He is always just so curious about what I am up to.  I think he needs a bow tie. He would look so handsome!

Crop Your Top!

{Photo via STREETFSN } In the fashion world we are seeing a lot of designers creating cropped tops. Now, I don't know about you but this is something I was able to pull off when I was in my teens. I never thought I would say this, but I'm just not that confident anymore! With that being said, I think I will go do my Bikini Ready Fast by Self Magazine video. Will you be able to pull this look of this summer?? If you have tight abs I think you should! Otherwise, keep that area covered. Are you with me here?

Head Gear

You remember this lovely look that Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman, don't you? I just love polka dots! Wanna know something I love just a little bit more than polka dots? Hats! And I adore Julia's. Hats have not been as popular with women ever since the birth of big hair. Ladies got away from wearing hats because they would flatten all their puffiness. Well, gone are the days of big bouffants. No fuss hairstyles are the in thing. And I can't think of a better way to dress up a simple hair style than with a hat. My favorite hats and headdresses happen to be the from finest milliner in all the land, Maison Michel .  Laetitia Crahay is a head designer at Maison Michel and to me has the best job on the planet. Who wouldn't want to be an accessory designer? Accessories are the most important part of an outfit. Hat = Accessory  This is me wearing my favorite straw fedora sitting in my favorite chair. I just love hats not only because I don...

Me?? Getting Married??

Did that title grab your attention? If you know me then you know that I am already happily married and have been for the past sixteen years. Okay, so our marriage has had some rough patches. So I would say that we have been married for sixteen years and very happily married for the past nine years. Everyone goes through some rough patches, right? Just agree with me here to make me feel better, okay.....? So, even though I am happily married already, I just couldn't pass up this amazing deal on such a pretty dress that I found at Marden's in Brewer, Maine! I can just picture us renewing our vows on an island far far away. This dress is just so simply elegant and timeless.  {dress by Isaac Mizrahi }   I LOVE the fact that it has no embellishments whatsoever. I will be carrying daises and I will have my hair up in two braids worn on the top of my head kind of like this: I probably won't be as tan as Mary-Kate though. But isn't this the perfect do for this ...

Today is "What did you buy?" FRIDAY!

You know I love Fridays. I get to buy something and then share it with you! This is how I have disciplined myself. We all deserve a little something for working so hard all week. Yes I have been on vacation, but I still have been working hard! Doing spring clean up outside the house and doing a little spring cleaning inside too. You may be thinking that is not much of a vacation. Truth is, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and my home.  Here is what I bought this Friday. Two pairs of shoes from Chez Mardine's. (That's just a fancy name I have for Marden's which is a surplus and salvage discount store in Maine.) The eyelet wedges are by White Mountain and they are so super comfy. They will look pretty with summer dresses, cropped pants and skirts. The suede ballet flats are Amalfi by Rangoni and they will just look cute with anything. Both of these shoes are so comfortable. I have made a promise to myself to never ever purchase any more shoes that are uncomfortable. ...

Get Under Your UMBRELLA

{This is my beautiful friend and colleague Melissa. This photo was taken on a rainy April Sunday in Maine at Kennebunk Beach} This is April. And you know the saying: "April Showers bring May flowers." Very true. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see and smell those flowers! However we must embrace all situations and circumstances in life and make the best of them in order to maintain our happiness and sanity. Fashion can sometimes frustrate people because, while you might be ready for summer, mother nature is still spitting snow, sleet and rain. You must give in and accept the weather and dress accordingly. You will feel better, dryer and warmer that way. Thank goodness we have humans who have invented fashionable ways to to stay comfortable and dry.  One of my favorite ways to stay dry is to carry around a great big umbrella. You don't have to ruin your hair and at the same time you can imagine you are Mary Poppins. Here are a few of my favor...

"What Did You Buy?" FRIDAY

You work hard all week! You deserve a little something on payday. Here is what I bought this Friday:  I have decided that I am not going to purchase any more uncomfortable shoes. I already have way to many of those! This week I purchased my first pair of TOMS .  These burlap wedges are not only super cool to look at, they are super comfortable as well. And you can have a good feeling when you purchase a pair of TOMS shoes. For every pair you buy, they donate a pair of shoes to a child in a third world country who cannot afford shoes. Try going without shoes for a day. I can't even imagine.  Here is how I wore my first pair of TOMS. A casual & feminine yet fun look!  How will you wear your TOMS ?

Street Style Done Laura's Style

I love looking at photos of real people wearing fabulous clothes. This is what we call street style. We so often look at magazines to get inspiration, which is great, however we know that those photos are styled by professionals and photoshopped. I just find it so interesting to see how real people put it all together. One day I hope to be a street style photographer. But for now I have to stick to my real job. This look {below} totally caught my eye. I love how she made a motorcycle jacket look so pretty. A black motorcycle jacket looks luxe with wide leg pants and a pretty blouse. {above photo credit: Deigo Zuko} And this is how I copied her. I added the scarf for just a little color. For some reason I had a hard time being so plain. But when I arrived at work I did take off the leather jacket and the scarf and did the neutral black and cream look. My other favorite part of this look was the super wide leg pants. Not only were they comfortable, they look super cool t...

The Power of Accessorizing

Every lady knows that her outfit is not complete without accessories. If you didn't know that already, then don't beat yourself down. You learned something new today! Which is something I always pride myself on. Accessories not only complete the story, they also personalize your look. Did you ever notice that two ladies can be wearing the same dress and it will look completely different? And I am not speaking about size and shape. I am speaking to what she wears with it. One lady will choose to wear her little black dress with her pearls and patent leather shoes, while another lady will put it on with her espadrille wedges, layer on a scarf, some bracelets and a belt. One dress, two different individuals. Oh the joy of expressing yourself through fashion! You never need to say a word. One of my favorite ways to express my personal style is by wearing Alex and Ani bangles which can be found at Quality Jewelers located on 57 Washington Street in downtown Bangor, Mai...
