The Power of Accessorizing

Every lady knows that her outfit is not complete without accessories. If you didn't know that already, then don't beat yourself down. You learned something new today! Which is something I always pride myself on. Accessories not only complete the story, they also personalize your look. Did you ever notice that two ladies can be wearing the same dress and it will look completely different? And I am not speaking about size and shape. I am speaking to what she wears with it. One lady will choose to wear her little black dress with her pearls and patent leather shoes, while another lady will put it on with her espadrille wedges, layer on a scarf, some bracelets and a belt. One dress, two different individuals. Oh the joy of expressing yourself through fashion! You never need to say a word.

One of my favorite ways to express my personal style is by wearing Alex and Ani bangles which can be found at Quality Jewelers located on 57 Washington Street in downtown Bangor, Maine. Each of these bangles are expandable ensuring the perfect fit for every wrist. They are available in precious metals or their signature Russian Gold and Russian Silver finishes and decorated with sacred symbols and stones. The Alex and Ani collection is everlasting, classic, and collectible. I personally prefer to wear more than one at a time.

I know that when I purchase a piece of jewelry for myself or as a gift I want that piece to mean something. Each one of Alex and Ani bangles are infused with positive energy, are eco-friendly and they are made in America with love. The entire collection is made up of powerful, meaningful, and spiritual pieces, which uplift and inspire all who wear them.

One of my own personal favorite Alex and Ani bracelets is the Plume Feather Wrap in Russian gold.

Below you will see how fabulous the Plume Feather Wrap looks when worn with multiple Alex and Ani Bracelets.
Beautiful!
And this blog post wouldn't be complete without leaving you this link that will lead you to the story of Alex and Ani. I am sure you will be as touched as I when you watch the videos.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
