Sunday Inspiration~Surfer Girl

I can't help but crave the beach right now. July is just around the corner and my vacation is finally within sight. I couldn't believe it when I spotted this cute little J.Crew mini skirt at a local thrift store for just $2.50! It will be perfect with my J.Crew bikini that I have had for years and just can't give up. (I think it still fits...) Although, my vacation will not be spent at Waikiki Beach, I am looking forward to some hot summer days at The Samoset Resort off the coast of Maine.

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Boho Chic

What I wore: ~ruffled jersey tank from Mexicali Blues ~signature fit slim ankle jeans, cardi and necklace from TALBOTS ~turquoise ring by Silpada ~wedge sandals by Clarks

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Mixing Florals And Stripes

What I wore: ~ TALBOTS floral cardi, striped tank and eyelet skirt ~ Caroline G. necklace ~ Charlotte Russe tiny flower earrings ~ Silpada ring ~ American Eagle belt ~ Clarks wedge sandals ~ OPI Minnie Style sparkle polish

OPI Minnie Style

I recently received a bottle of Minnie Style polish courtesy of VOGUE and OPI . Now, I must warn you. You will feel extremely girly when you apply this sparkly sequin polish. It took about four coats to get the look in my photos below, but it seemed to dry extremely fast even while the air was extremely humid. This would also be a great top coat over a pink polish, which is what I will try next time. You will get noticed when you wear this pretty sparkle polish. Who doesn't love Minnie's Style?!! {Minne Mouse. My idol.}

Peach & Pink Paragon

 Would you wear peach and pink together? I would and I did! This TALBOTS linen blazer in pink and TALBOTS flower necklace in peach are two of my favorite things to wear during the warm summer months. {My eyes by Chanel . Inspired by Nature. See below.}

Hey, Four Eyes!!

Lately I have been obsessed with glasses. I am not blind. Nor do I wish I was. But there is just something about these nerd glasses that I found at the Family Dollar store that I just adore! Could it be that I look somewhat intelligent when I put them on? They do have 1.00 magnification, which is the perfect about of magnification for me these days.  And these sunglasses were just a little gem that I picked up at a local resale store last weekend. I never really have found myself gravitating to this ever so popular oversized roundish style lens, but there was just something about the transparent peach color of these that made me think high fashion. I can't help it that they made me feel just a little like I was copying Willy Wonka......or was it Elton John. Both are cool characters in my book.

Beauty ComesFrom The Inside Out

We all look at magazines and dream about looking like the fashion models we see on the pages before us. Even if you are one of those who say you don't, I know that you have at some point in your life, whether you spoke it out loud or not, wished that you looked like that seemingly perfect mold of a woman on the page(s) before you. Like myself, you may have been smart enough to realize at a young age that fashion magazines are just a fantasy. I feel like I have always known that, but I still continue to flip through wishing that I had that face, that skin, those eyes, those arms, that stomach, that butt, those legs. You get the picture. And that's the thing. Those are just pictures. A lot of them are photoshopped. Some of those models actually do look like that in real life though. And just something to remember, that's why they are models. Because they look fantastic in magazines and on catwalks! That's their job, and they are damn good at it. But we mustn't for...

The Power Of A Pretty Sheath

Do you have a go to "get ready in a hurry" sheath dress hanging in your closet? I happen to be coveting this one from TALBOTS .  A sheath is great because it is usually cut slightly A-line which is great for almost every body type. And you can accessorize it any way you want! I was sort of thinking a little modern day Great Gatsby-esque kind of look when I wore it for the first time. But I will also through this floral sheath dress on with my white denim jacket, pop the collar, put my hair back in a pony and wear my starfish earrings for a little more of a preppy look. How would you wear this sheath? I spotted this in Talbots Spring 2013 Look Book when there was still snow on the ground. I knew it was a must have for me!

Bathing Suit Season Scare

I don't know about you, but for me, it has to be REALLY hot outside for me to actually want to put on a bathing suit. Gone are the days where I would just prance around town, riding my scooter, in my bathing suit. For some reason, it doesn't seem that long ago that I was actually doing that! But I have to admit, that was a little over 20 years ago. I am turning 39 this July, and I'm doing just fine. Here are my four reasons for not wanting to put on a bathing suit: 1) I feel too white. 2) I feel too flabby. 3) I feel too cold. 4) I feel like I have much more to do these days than just lay in the sun. Truthfully, I am not a fan of the bathing suit. There was a time in my life that I couldn't imagine not wearing a bikini. Oh, and it had to be a bandeau style as to not get any ridiculous tan lines. These days I am thinking about wearing more sunscreen....... and a one piece. Maybe even borderline wet suit! It's not that I think I am overweight, it...

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Seersucker & Starfish

Summer is my favorite season. I just have a feeling of happiness all the time! Not only because it's warm, but that I get to wear seersucker and starfish! Today's look is inspired by some of my favorite preppy summer spots such as Kennebunkport, Boothbay, Camden, Bar Harbor, and many more of Maine's quaint coastal towns.  Here's what I wore: Seersucker jacket, starfish earrings, gold link necklace, Signature fit slim ankle cropped jeans all from TALBOTS . My eyelet baby-doll tank is from Gap and my red shoes are by  Mz. Mooz .   My favorite TALBOTS jewels. One of my favorite summer spots. Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Optical Illusions

 The calendar says that summer doesn't officially begin until June 21, but since I live in Maine I tend to try to prolong summer by saying that summer begins on Memorial Day. So in Laura's world, summer has arrived. Time to get dig out the shades and enjoy some fun in the sun!  Every summer I am inspired to pick out a new pair of sunglasses. I want a style that is not only on trend, but that will also compliment my face shape. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Lise Auxier, owner of State Street Optics , which has been located on 207 State Street in Bangor, Maine for the past ten years. Lise showed me four of the biggest eyewear trends for summer 2013.  And they are: 1.) Light, feminine frames 2.) Retro, round frames 3.) Bold, colorful frames 4.) Earthy, natural tone frames  I knew I was ready for a change from my old standby aviator style sunglasses that I have been wearing for the past few years. I expressed to Lise...
