Bathing Suit Season Scare

I don't know about you, but for me, it has to be REALLY hot outside for me to actually want to put on a bathing suit. Gone are the days where I would just prance around town, riding my scooter, in my bathing suit. For some reason, it doesn't seem that long ago that I was actually doing that! But I have to admit, that was a little over 20 years ago. I am turning 39 this July, and I'm doing just fine.

Here are my four reasons for not wanting to put on a bathing suit:
1) I feel too white.
2) I feel too flabby.
3) I feel too cold.
4) I feel like I have much more to do these days than just lay in the sun.

Truthfully, I am not a fan of the bathing suit.

There was a time in my life that I couldn't imagine not wearing a bikini. Oh, and it had to be a bandeau style as to not get any ridiculous tan lines. These days I am thinking about wearing more sunscreen....... and a one piece. Maybe even borderline wet suit! It's not that I think I am overweight, it's just the way I feel. And that doesn't mean it's right. It's just me. Would I feel any different about wearing a bikini again if I was as fit as used to be when I was 15? YES. YOU BET. So, why don't I get into that kind of shape right now at this point in my life? Well, I know it wouldn't take me long. But, there is so much more I want to do in this world than just simply think about myself. Don't get me wrong. I do exercise. But just not enough to look like I am 15 again. I feel if I went to that extent, I would begin neglecting other people who I love and want to spend time with.

  I suppose I am writing this blog post to see if there is anyone else out there who feels the same as I do about bathing suit season. Well, is there anyone out there?

I have done a little research, and at this point in my life, here are the bathing suits that I would actually proudly put on my body:
{Jaclyn Smith's Women's Tankini Top}

{Esther Williams Bathing Beauty One Piece in Cherry Pie}

{Next Tankini in Pink & Purple Combo}

{Surf's Up One Piece Bandeau Sarong Swimsuit}

How do you feel about bathing suits? Do they scare you as much as they scare me? Post a comment and let me know!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
