How my houndstooth nail art inspired my look......

Some people will tell you that nail art is out. Some people will tell you that nail art is in. I will tell you to do what you feel like doing. That's what I do. But I haven't always been that way.....

I have always danced to the beat of my own drum to a certain extent. That doesn't mean I haven't gone through many stages of trying to be like everyone else though. In school I would always observe everyones style and if I found someone who I thought had fabulous style, I would try to copy them, but in my own subtle way so that no one would necessarily know I was copying them. My family thought it was a bit weird though. They saw me change my style overnight and I know they sometimes thought I was a little crazy. There was also a time that I said I was going to only read Vogue and that was going to be my fashion bible. Then I decided that Harpers Bazaar was going to be my fashion bible. But way before those it was Seventeen, Sassy, Jane, Lucky, Glamour, Cosmo and In Style. And even way before that, I was gazing into my Barbie magazine. We are influenced by so many more medias nowadays, I don't even know where to start! Now, I love looking at my fellow fashion bloggers to see how they style themselves. I am thankful to be alive during this time where really anything goes in fashion. There are literally no rules. Although there will always be trends that the fashion industry thinks up, now I just use everything as inspiration and I continue to dance to the beat of my own drum when it comes to fashion.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
