The Notebook Dress by Sarah Patrick

The Notebook Dress by Sarah Patrick Do you know the feeling that you get when you know you just have to have it? That was the feeling that this dress gave me when I first laid my eyes on it on Sarah Vickers Patricks' Instagram account! I have lost count of how many years I have been following Sarah's and her husband's brand, Kiel James Patrick . They have THE most amazing photos I have ever seen capturing the New England life that we all can only dream of living.  Anyway, back to the dress. The illustration by Riley Sheehey was what really caught my eye. Have you ever seen the movie The Notebook? If you haven't, I demand that you watch it right away. Or, you may choose to read the novel that the movie was based upon by Nicholas Sparks. I can probably say that it is in fact my favorite movie of all time. It is the most beautiful love story. I feel as though I can totally relate to the story. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and we are still tog...

My First Real Hike

We hiked the  Megunticook trail in Camden, Maine. Please try not to laugh at me as you read this blog post.  I have a confession to make. I am 43 years old and I have lived in Maine all of my life and I have never gone on a real hike up a real mountain trail until just recently. You may or may not know that I began a new career with L.L. Bean a little over a year and a half ago. It was a rocky road at first. However, I knew that I was more than that. Not that there is anything wrong with simply being a fashionista. I just discovered that it wasn't right for me to be just that. I think something happened when I turned 40. A feeling of restlessness came over me. I started to want to have more experiences instead of buying more clothes and accessories. I know! Weird huh? But I am telling you the...

Mother's Day Treat

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I was lucky enough to be able to spend it with my mom and my sister. Unfortunately I was not able to spend it with my son. He had to work. Bummer. However, on a brighter note I am so proud of him and his work ethic. It seems to run in the family!  Anyway, I was able to dress up a bit on Mother's Day, so I thought I might write a blog post about the outfit that I chose. This blouse is very special to me. I came home from work on Saturday evening to find a bag stuffed with colorful paper hanging on my door knob. A note was attached from my sister-in-law. The note explained that she found this gorgeous Anne Fontaine blouse in her mother's yard sale pile and thought I should have first refusal. Thank you so much for thinking of me Suzie! I have seen this blouse on your mother and I have complimented her on it every time. I will cherish it always, praying that I will never grow out of it. But if I do, I am sure I will find someone speci...
