Mother's Day Treat

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I was lucky enough to be able to spend it with my mom and my sister. Unfortunately I was not able to spend it with my son. He had to work. Bummer. However, on a brighter note I am so proud of him and his work ethic. It seems to run in the family!

Anyway, I was able to dress up a bit on Mother's Day, so I thought I might write a blog post about the outfit that I chose. This blouse is very special to me. I came home from work on Saturday evening to find a bag stuffed with colorful paper hanging on my door knob. A note was attached from my sister-in-law. The note explained that she found this gorgeous Anne Fontaine blouse in her mother's yard sale pile and thought I should have first refusal. Thank you so much for thinking of me Suzie! I have seen this blouse on your mother and I have complimented her on it every time. I will cherish it always, praying that I will never grow out of it. But if I do, I am sure I will find someone special to hand it down to who will appreciate it like I do.

I thought that my Strawberries & Flowers Scarf from The Maine Square would be the perfect accessory to wear. Find it HERE.

You can shop the rest of my look below if you'd like:

I have always wanted to try one of those pretty pink fancy drinks from Starbucks. I figured that Mother's Day would be the perfect day to give it a whirl. This one is called the Ombré Pink Drink.

Here are the ingredients:

pineapple tea infusion
strawberry juice
lime slices
coconut milk
Passion Tango Teavana Tea

I have to say that it was very refreshing! I may try and save $6 and make it at home myself next time. But it was a treat for sure!
Thank you Suzie for thinking of me!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
