The Notebook Dress by Sarah Patrick

The Notebook Dress by Sarah Patrick Do you know the feeling that you get when you know you just have to have it? That was the feeling that this dress gave me when I first laid my eyes on it on Sarah Vickers Patricks' Instagram account! I have lost count of how many years I have been following Sarah's and her husband's brand, Kiel James Patrick . They have THE most amazing photos I have ever seen capturing the New England life that we all can only dream of living.  Anyway, back to the dress. The illustration by Riley Sheehey was what really caught my eye. Have you ever seen the movie The Notebook? If you haven't, I demand that you watch it right away. Or, you may choose to read the novel that the movie was based upon by Nicholas Sparks. I can probably say that it is in fact my favorite movie of all time. It is the most beautiful love story. I feel as though I can totally relate to the story. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and we are still tog...

My First Real Hike

We hiked the  Megunticook trail in Camden, Maine. Please try not to laugh at me as you read this blog post.  I have a confession to make. I am 43 years old and I have lived in Maine all of my life and I have never gone on a real hike up a real mountain trail until just recently. You may or may not know that I began a new career with L.L. Bean a little over a year and a half ago. It was a rocky road at first. (No pun intended. ) Previously I had worked, lived and breathed in the fashion world all of my childhood, teen-hood, and adult life. Don't get me wrong. I still adore fashion! However, I knew that I was more than that. Not that there is anything wrong with simply being a fashionista. I just discovered that it wasn't right for me to be just that. I think something happened when I turned 40. A feeling of restlessness came over me. I started to want to have more experiences instead of buying more clothes and accessories. I know! Weird huh? But I am telling you the...

Mother's Day Treat

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I was lucky enough to be able to spend it with my mom and my sister. Unfortunately I was not able to spend it with my son. He had to work. Bummer. However, on a brighter note I am so proud of him and his work ethic. It seems to run in the family!  Anyway, I was able to dress up a bit on Mother's Day, so I thought I might write a blog post about the outfit that I chose. This blouse is very special to me. I came home from work on Saturday evening to find a bag stuffed with colorful paper hanging on my door knob. A note was attached from my sister-in-law. The note explained that she found this gorgeous Anne Fontaine blouse in her mother's yard sale pile and thought I should have first refusal. Thank you so much for thinking of me Suzie! I have seen this blouse on your mother and I have complimented her on it every time. I will cherish it always, praying that I will never grow out of it. But if I do, I am sure I will find someone speci...

Happy New Year 19 Days Late!

So, I might be a little "fashionably late" with the Happy New Year wishes. But c'est la vie! Life is moving a little too fast for me these days, so please expect me to be running late, most of the time. I try so hard to be on time with everything I do, but lately I have had to prioritize. Not that I don't think that this blog is important. But let's face it. It's not like you are sitting at home in suspense waiting to see what I post next. But anyway, I am posting now about what I wore on New Years Eve 2017. We didn't do anything crazy. My husband and I had a peaceful night out together eating sushi at a restaurant called Kashi, which has mysteriously closed here in Bangor, Maine! Honestly, it was our favorite place! I LOVED the chandeliers. If you know me I have a thing for chandeliers and they had a ton of them in there. And we even had a favorite waitress. Danielle. She was awesome! So sad that they closed. Anyway, I wanted to wear something bright...

It's Shorts Weather in Maine!

It is FINALLY warm enough to wear shorts in Maine! I have two credentials that must be met before I put a pair of shorts on. It has to be at least 70 degrees and sunny. And here in Maine, the weather has been surprisingly consistent! I say that with hesitation because I know that when you live in Maine you must understand that if you wait a minute the weather can completely change. That's why layers are so very important. I threw on a chambray blazer from Talbots when I went out to dinner knowing full well that the temps were not going to stay in the 70's once the sun set. SHOP MY LOOK! Peace - ing Out With Pineapples!

Someone asked me the other day why the heck pineapples are so popular? That question actually made me stop and think for a brief minute. Then I quickly responded, "Because they grow in places that are basically paradise and who doesn't want to wear a little bit of paradise?!" Plus, I think they are such a pretty fruit. J.Crew has managed to make them into a colorful fruit on this Campbell Italian linen blazer , and of course I am a sucker for color. Traditionally pineapples have become a symbol of warmth, welcome, friendship and hospitality. All things that make me feel happy. So, I think that the real questions should be, why wouldn't pineapples be so popular? Don't you? I also adore this awesome plaid enamel hinged bangle from Talbots . I think they are doing such a great job with engraving their name into the inside of the bracelet. In time this bracelet will become vintage, and it will certainly be worth a lot more if we can see who it's b...

Celebrating The Warmth in Maine!

Yesterday was technically not the first day of summer, but it certainly felt like it in Maine! We had a high temperature of 92 degrees! A heat wave for us, especially considering that it was having a hard time reaching 50 degrees this past weekend. Crazy! I felt the need to get out the starfish belt on this fine "summer" day. This was a purchase I made at Talbots about twelve years ago. I would say that this starfish is nearly vintage and I love it! I have never found one exactly like it since, however, I did look up starfish belts on Etsy and found this adorable one below that you might be interested in....
