Lighten Up Your Make Up!

It is now spring and before we know it we will be in full fledged summer mode! With the change of seasons we all tend to concentrate on our wardrobes. We switch them out and buy a couple of new pieces to keep things fresh. This is also a time where we want to change out our make up styles for something a little fresher and lighter. What's in your make up bag? Is it time for a little freshening up for the new season? Read on to see what's in mine! (or at least on my list;-)

This is a beautiful palette by Josie Maran. Don't you remember her? In 1997 she became a very well known  face for Maybelline after becoming a model signed with Elite at the age of 17. She graced covers such as Glamour, Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and Mademoiselle. She also went on to become the iconic Guess girl. And now Josie has created her own make up line. This girl has got it goin' on!

I love applying a bit of iridescent shadow to my lids just for that extra shimmer when I go out in the evenings during the summer. Dior's 5 Colour Iridescent Eyeshadow is perfect for this. It is a bit pricey at $58 but lasts forever so it's well worth it. When wearing a shadow with shimmer you really do need to splurge a little in order to get the effect you want. The consistency and the pigments are so much nicer.

Go for an eyeliner that is lighter than the normal shade you wear. If you wear black then try a slate gray. If you wear brown then try a bronze shade.  I love Cover Girl Perfect blend eye pencil. It glides on and it comes with a great smudger which I find is always necessary when applying eyeliner for that more sexy natural look.

Change your nail polish to a pretty sheer shade like this one by Lippmann Collection. I guarantee that this is the best nail polish that you will ever try. And if you try it you will be spoiled forever!

This Schweppes black cherry seltzer lip balm is so light and sheer for summer. Not to mention how fun it is to wear! I love taking this out of my purse and putting it on. Everyone always loves the packaging. It reminds me of those lip tins that I used to get in my stocking on Christmas morning.

These blushes created by Michael Kors for Estee Lauder are the best blushes I have ever tried. They go on sheer and the colors are so bright and pretty. 1st I got the sunset pink (bottom photo) and I loved it. I loved it so much that I went back and got the sunset coral!!! (top photo) Good luck trying to find these though. They are selling out nation wide so hurry!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
