What Did You Wear to SATC2???

Some of you might think I am crazy for putting a few months of thought into my outfit that I was going to wear to Sex and the City 2. Some of you might kind of understand. And some of you, are just like me. I started thinking about it 3 months ago. I knew that I wanted it to be fun and colorful. Then I came across this gorgeous watercolor print silk top by Tory Burch at Neiman Marcus. I knew this was the one!  Now what was I to put with it? I didn't want to wear blue jeans, yet I didn't want to be overly dressed. (I usually am considered overly dressed for this state of Maine that I live in, but I don't mind;-) I finally decided on a pair of white cropped skinny jeans from Gap. I rolled them a bit as to show off my Stewart Weitzman shimmering espadrilles, which in my mind are very Carrie. The faded light wash of my denim blazer also from Gap, was the perfect contrast to not overpower the outfit. A denim any darker just wouldn't have worked. Finally I decided to carry my Gucci bag instead of the Lauren Merkin patent clutch that is pictured above. It was a tough decision though. My make up was Victorias Secret's limited edition Spring 2010 palette. I really had so much fun applying the safari-chic colors of the eyeshadow palette and the lip gloss smells and tastes delicious! Not to mention the packaging is super cool.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
