I'm In The Mood For Fresh New Hair

Now that I have decided to grow my hair out and have actually come pretty far, Scarlett Johansson had to go and chop hers off and look completely adorable! I love this choppy do.

This is how I wore my hair today. This photo of Camilla Belle styled in a half-updo was my inspiration. I know, I should have taken a picture. That is one of my new years resolutions.....to keep that camera going and take more photos of my fashion craziness.
I just heard that Natalie Portman is going to be one of the most talked about celebrities in 2011. I believe it!! She has so much going for her including a nomination for an oscar for the movie Black Swan, making 3 more movies in 2011, getting married, and having a baby! But right now I am obsessing over her side chignon. As I am being challenged to grow my hair out, I shall keep looking at this picture and trying this style until my hair is finally long enough to look as gorgeous as Natalie's.

Zoe Saldana's braided updo is so beautiful and romantic looking. It totally brings to mind the book I read over and over again when I was about 12 years old "Samantha on Stage." The ballerinas who become friends in this book wore their hair like this to ballet class. At the time I was so jealous because I had chopped my hair off and had to wear a fake bun bobby pinned like crazy to what hair I had when I was on stage. Don't get me wrong, my hair was cute when it was short, just not a good look for a ballerina.

Ok, I am ready for the hairstylists of the world to bash me so bring it on. (be easy on me please;) I am back to using Clairol Perfect 10 hair color and to be totally honest, my hair feels great! I tried a new color this time called "beeline honey". It looks much lighter on the box for sure. It just gave me some really pretty golden highlights. I also have used a color called "ready-made-cupcake" in the past and that is just a tad bit darker. It is just a little less expensive than the salon at less than $10 a box ;)

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
