Houndstooth ~ It Will NEVER Go Out Of Style!

 This gorgeous model is wearing a houndstooth suit and bowler hat by Chanel, 1969, London. I would totally wear this today! This is an exceptional example of timeless elegance

  I was very inspired to wear my houndstooth blazer today by another fashion blog that I read on a regular basis. Trends for the Masses (TFTM.) You may or may not have heard of it. Either way, you should check it out. Very inspiring. Especially if you are at a loss on "what to wear." I also dug out my "spring" bag. I am rebelling against this winter weather we are still having in the northeast! (Yes, it is still snowing here. We just got an additional 6 inches or more today! I have lost all of my faith in Mr. Groundhog!)
I always try to match my coffee mug to my look. Don't you?!
(Just kidding. I really don't do this. But today I really found it interesting how cool my black cat mug looked next to my jacket!)
 This is R&B artist Monica wearing the most gorgeous houndstooth blouse by Alexander McQueen. How lovely :)
Britney Spears (left) and Hayden Panettiere (right) wearing super cool and timeless houndstooth coats.

The GORGEOUS Kim Kardashian wearing a touch of houndstooth in a scarf. She knows that a little goes a long way!

Love your blog and your services. I worked for Ralph Lauren for almost 10 years and I am a fashion hound and a goodwill shopper. Loved that you included Goodwill in your look book! Being a fashion nut, you might love this blog http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

I look everyday and no this is not my blog but just a suggestion from one crazed fashion fan from Maine to another!

Thanks so much Johanna! I was just checking out your work as well and I have one word, AMAZING! I have always had a love for photography. I need to go take a class. My husband got me the most beautiful camera last year for my birthday and I feel the need to carry it with me all the time!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
