Make Your Seamstress Your Best Friend!

{This is me posing on the platform at the seamstress. My fabulous client deserves the credit for the photography.} blouse: Talbots skinny jeans: Gap boots:  Lauren earrings: Silpada bracelet: Bobbi Original As you may, or may not already know I am a wardrobe stylist. I help ladies like you with finding their own unique look and it is the most rewarding job ever! I love it when a client discovers herself. It is so rewarding when a lady realizes that she doesn't have to be 5'10" and 115 lbs  to look good in her clothes!!!! She just has to buy clothes that fit her body type and realize that ACCESSORIES ARE WHERE IT'S AT! If you have any further questions about what I can help you with please e mail me at laurasstyle@hotmail.com.  Last week I helped one of my fabulous clients with finding what fits and flatters her figure from her existing wardrobe. We got rid of A LOT of stuff. Now she can breathe again! She did however have some GORGEOUS pieces in her wardrobe t...

To the MAXX!!!

I am really hooked on this look!! Maxi dresses are where it's at for summer and better yet, they never really go out of style. Yes ladies, the maxi dress is one of those classic items that you must have in your wardrobe. Feel like you are too petite for this look? Just put on some really high heel sandals and you will be good to go! It may take a little shopping around to find the right maxi dress for your body type though. Well endowed ladies may be apt to look prego and if your not prego then you don't want to look it. If this is your case, then look for a maxi dress with less ruffles at the bust line. A nicely fitted bodice will be more slimming for you than the baby doll look. See some examples below for ladies that have a larger bust: {Clockwise starting at top left: ALICE by Temperley, French Connection, Reiss} Notice how they all are v neck and they don't start getting full until the waist line? A great style for ladies who have a little more than others on top;)...

Spring CLEANING!

{This is a look from Calvin Klein's spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection. You can always count on Calvin Klein for those clean lines and pure colors. Calvin Klein is the first designer that comes to my mind when the word minimalist is uttered.} You Cannot Hide Behind Spring's Minimalist Looks! When I think of the minimalist trend that is so hot this spring I think of clean lines, color blocking , bold   c o l o r s , definite shapes and a very brave women who can wear all of these looks! These looks may seem very simple, in the fact that there are no bells and whistles, no ruffles and lace, no layers upon layers and no where to hide. When a lady wears any of these minimalist looks I feel like she is really showing herself to the world. She is not hiding behind a costume. It is just good clean FASHION. This is a bold statement square bag that I adore by Proenza Schouler. Perfect for the office. You could fit a really big sandwich in there! I LOVE this bold emerald green co...

Grace. It's Not Just Her Name. It's How She's Goes Through Life!

How did her parents know that Grace was the perfect name for her? Grace Coddington is one of the people I most admire in life. In case you didn't know, she is the creative director of American Vogue. And you may not know who she is if you aren't a fashion crazed freak such as myself. She has always done things quietly in life. Although her modeling spoke LOUDLY and her photography SCREAMS! She lets her work do the talking and lets others notice as they please. Grace has done only the most impressive work for the fashion industry. Making models and designers look unreal in the most amazing way. Fashion is a fantasy and lets us be whoever we want. Which is why I am in love with it. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to the fabulous Grace Coddington who celebrated her 70th yesterday April 14th. How Do You Wear This Seasons Hot Tribal Print Trend Without Looking Like You Actually Belong to a Tribe?

YIKES!!!! Who would even believe that this is the stunning Beyonce?! What a bad look for even the most beautiful person. Some people might find the above photo almost offensive. Others may find it beautiful. However, I am sure she didn't really wear this outside of the studio. She was posing for the cover shoot for the  90th anniversary cover of   L’Officiel Paris  while celebrating her African roots. For once I can say that I look better than Beyonce in the top photo. (even though she would look fabulous wearing a burlap bag.) For my tribal look I decided to skip the face paint and opt for a more lady like interpretation. I bought this embroidered Aztec print skirt at Talbots about 5 years ago and I knew when I saw it that I would love and wear it forever. I am not a real tribal print person, but when I found a rare feminine sort of Aztecan print such as this, I knew I had to have it. It has a bit of a floral design which I think is what drew me in. I put a creamy ...

"Queen of the Air"

Amelia Earhart had a one passion and one passion only. To fly. Little did she know she had a naturally super cool sense of style that would be admired for years to come. Her style was a bit tomboyish. She wore trousers instead of dresses which was sort of a crazy thing to do for a lady in the 1930's. Leather jackets and silk scarves were also part of her signature style. Not only was she the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic, she has also gone down in history as one of America's most fabulous style icons!  {Hence the bomber jacket that every lady must have in her wardrobe. See below for my personal favorite bomber styles.}  Top left: Juicy Couture Top right: Burberry Bottom center: Day Birger et Mikkelsen (my ultimate personal fave ;) {1st two scarves: Versace, 3rd scarf: Etro} I feel that Amelia may have chosen one of these three scarves to complete her look. Little did she know, her silk scarf balanced out her tomboyish look to be not so tomboyish. Here i...
