Laura's Style's Fashion Item Of The Month! {February 2012}

You knew I just HAD to pick something red for my item of the month. For February is month of love you know. I have been wanting a pair of red pants for a long time and I thought that now was a great time to finally actually own a pair. After doing a ton of research and analyzing what type of red pants would be the perfect pair for me, I came to the conclusion that these River Island Kick Flare Trousers from ASOS were the winners! They are made of a ponte knit fabric so they are a great weight for almost all four seasons. Now I can wear red pants all year long!! They should surely brighten up my winter and they will be totally cool of course worn in spring and summer especially when paired with a navy jacket or a nautical striped tee. They are also gonna be great in the fall worn with my wool camel or black velvet blazers. See below to view how I decided to style them for the first time I wore them:

~red trousers from ASOS
~aqua silk waist sash from Talbots
~aqua chandelier earrings from Talbots
~flower ring from Talbots
~aqua beaded handmade bracelet from Bobbi Original
~camel suede platform pumps from Sofft

And you are probably wondering where my beauty item of the month is. Well, the truth is that I did not pick one. I am trying to be frugal and picky and well, I just didn't have to have anything. Stay tuned to see what my pick or picks are for next month.......:)

I was thrilled to see what your "must have classic" was for this month, and yes ... it's on order. I already have the Talbot's cheetah blouse and other pieces you mentioned you would be pairing up with them! I like that you added my favorite color, turquoise as the icing for your look! I think that's what I like most about your style - the surprise element, whether it's an unexpected accessory (new or old) or and unexpected color mix.

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
