Simplify Your Life With Dresses!

Lately I have been wanting to make my life a little easier. I am not only thinking about chopping my hair........
but I am also thinking about how I can simplify at least some of my mornings by throwing on a dress. The only problem with dresses is that they can get kind of boring. I mean, a dress is a dress, right? There are only so many ways you can wear a dress. Well, isn't that the point?!! YES!

It is true that you can wear certain dress styles different ways but, you don't want to look like you are trying too hard. If you plan on experimenting with different ways to wear a dress, then one like this gold button ponte knit dress from Talbots in the photo below would be the style that you would want.
Here is what you could do with this dress:

1.) Wear a blouse, turtleneck or tee underneath so it looks like a jumper
2.) Wear it with leggings
3.) Wear it as is
4.) Wear a cute cropped denim jacket over it
5) wear a fitted black leather jacket over it

The other thing you can do to make a dress look completely different is change up your footwear. I like to wear dresses (and skirts) in the fall and winter with a pair of black tights and knee high boots. Change up the look again with ballet flats for a more cute, casual fun look or wear it with ultra high black patent pumps to be a little more sexy!

Oh, and don't forget how a gorgeous scarf like this Renniel Paisley silk scarf from Talbots can really compliment a simple dress!

Can't figure out how to wear a scarf you say? Think simple and just play with it! See my video (below) that I made a while back on simple ways to tie a scarf:

I also LOVE this blog titled Mai Tai's Picture Book. She incorporates scarf rings in many of her ties and they are just gorgeous!

I love dresses for the fact that they are easy to just throw on and you will look instantly amazing! So, don't try too hard okay. Just have fun looking fabulous!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
