How Much Should You Budget for the Closet?

A girl has got to look good right?
This requires buying clothes right?
This brings us to the ultimate question.
How much should you spend on clothing for yourself?

I have struggled with this in the past, but I have now come to the realization that I am worth saving for :) I really feel that every lady should save a little bit each week out of her paycheck for a clothing budget. You feel great when you look good and feeling great truly is what life is all about. Right?

Okay, so now the question is, how much should you save each week out of your paycheck? Every ladies' budget will be different depending on her occupation and what her lifestyle is. I work in fashion, so I definitely need a little wardrobe update every now and then. I personally have decided to save 10% out of my paycheck every week for my clothing allowance. And when I say clothing, that includes shoes and accessories as well. I recommend saving a minimum of 10% out of your paycheck every week for your wardrobe allowance.

If you wear a uniform to work every day then your clothing budget may be less, however I still feel that in order to feel like the gorgeous lady that you already are, you still need to save a little to spend on updating your look. Every lady deserves to feel great about themselves. And please don't think that I judge others by the way they look. I most certainly do not! I just know that from my experience in assisting ladies become their most stylish selves, it is then when they appear the happiest! I think it may have something to do with discovering the fact that they can have any occupation or hobby, whether it be a mechanic, construction worker, engineer or scientist, and still look like they walked out of VOGUE!

Let's face it ladies. We really do have it all don't we!!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
