The Practical PUFFER

Vogue Daily —
I never thought that I would be the type to think practical when it comes to fashion. Wearing the latest styles have always been anything but functional for me. I have lived in the state of Maine all of my life, so you can imaging just how much of a struggle my fashionable life has been! However, I have always been more comfortable feeling a bit uncomfortable, knowing that having that feeling meant that I was "dressed."

I am going to tell you that times, they are a changing. And thank goodness! Just at the right moment! As I age it seems that practical styles are getting more and more popular. Or, is it that I just see it that way because I want to?
You tell me.

My husband recently asked me what I want for Christmas. Well besides a new Mac Book Pro, (which is inconceivable for us right now given our budget) I told him that the only thing I wanted for Christmas was a puffer coat. Here are some of my all time favorite puffer styles of this very moment:

Laura, I just had the same conversation today, regarding being dressed......"However, I have always been more comfortable feeling a bit uncomfortable, knowing that having that feeling meant that I was "dressed."

Nothing, absolutely NOTHING, makes me feel more sociable than being a little uncomfortably dressed!

I do like the Puffers. They are Fun, Fashionable, Furry (in some cases) and Fluffy - like Girl and Spice and Girl. What's not to love about that?

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
