Laura's Lovely Look ~ Black Friday

Since today was Black Friday I decided to go with an all black theme at work to get into the holiday shopping spirit. Here is what I wore: ~ TALBOTS  ¾ sleeve drape neck black sparkle tee, black Hollywood waist trousers and silver ribbon chain belt ~ BCBG black patent leather ballet flats ~ earrings by Liz Claiborne ~ sterling silver flower ring by Silpada Shop the look!

What Black Friday Bargains Are Actually Worth Waking Up Early For?

I have only shopped on Black Friday one time in my life. My son was about three or four and his grandma offered to watch him while I did some Christmas shopping. I decided to embrace the humanity and go for the Black Friday deals. I started out around 5:00 am and headed for Starbucks. Then I entered the parking lot of my local Toys R Us store and thought, what the hell am I doing? After driving around and finally finding a parking spot that someone wasn't going to steal before my eyes even though I had my blinker on, I located a cart and gripped it with all my might and began to wheel it towards the store. Upon entering the store I became immobile. Unable to move through the crowd let alone sip my $5.00 Starbucks coffee that was almost falling out of my grip due to battling the crowds. That was the last time I would ever do that again. There wasn't even anything I needed or that my son wanted. I just thought shopping early in the morning on Black Friday might be a fun and fe...

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Brighten Up Your Gray Day

This gray Kate fit jacket that I purchased from TALBOTS catalog at least two years ago is still something I reach for regularly in my wardrobe. It's a classic yet it's just a little different in the way of the pleats in the collar and the pockets. Today I decided to give it a POP of color to play with. What I wore: ~ TALBOTS Kate fit jacket, Signature fit velveteen pants in pimento, black turtleneck and statement necklace ~ Lifestride booties ~ Silpada sterling silver flower ring ~ gray faux pearl earrings from Charlotte Russe Shop this look!

Are You Wrinkle Resistant?

It is usually impossible to stay completely wrinkle free all day. The second you sit down in the car and put your seatbelt on, you may feel that it's all over with! However, that is not true. Yes you may be a little less wrinkle free than when you started out, but believe me, ironing those clothes was not a waist of time. Lets face it. Clothing care takes time. And when you love clothes, you must realize that you need to care for them, not just wear them. When we first purchase something, it looks great because it hasn't been laundered. The color is great, the fabric looks smooth and for some reason we don't seem to always think about the care we have to take of the garment when we are making that initial purchase. Here are a few ways you can keep your clothes looking great : 1. Take the time to iron your clothes. Even if it is knit top, it could use some touching up. 2. Consider buying a steamer, but don't think that it's going to cure all your ...

Laura's Lovely Look ~ It's Sweater Weather

This cozy Fair Isle sweater from TALBOTS is probably my favorite things in my wardrobe right now. I love the classic style of this sweater and it will look fabulous dressed up or dressed down. Here I am wearing it more casually, but the other night I actually wore it to dinner with a pair of winter white pants. It looked quite elegant. I should have taken a photo of that look as well, but it was my day off and well, I just didn't feel like being in front of a camera I guess. I promise to post a picture of that look in the future, because I plan on wearing it dressed up again very soon. I also plan on wearing this sweater with my black pencil skirt as well. I also have some colored jeans that will look great with this sweater too. Stay tuned... What I wore : ~ TALBOTS cozy Fair Isle Sweater and signature fit slim ankle jeans ~ Nine West Vintage riding boots ~ Tiffany & Co. silver ball bracelet ~ Chamilia bead bracelet ~  Silpada ring

No Hairstyle, No Make-Up? Don't Bother Getting Dressed.

This is my opinion and my opinion only. I believe that if you are going to leave the make-up off and the hair undone then you might as well not get dressed. Now, I don't mean that you should go around naked all day. Right now, you'd be kind of chilly if you did that. As least here in Maine you would be. What I mean, is that your hair style and your make-up are probably more important than the actual outfit itself. Without those two elements, there is no "look." I'm sorry all you au naturals out there, but it's true. Which is why I tend to not even think about what I am going to wear before my hair and make-up are in tact. All I can say is, thank goodness for showers, hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons and make up......especially mascara and concealer for me. What are your make-up musts?  I have only met a handful of girls who look like a million dollars with zero make-up. Did I mention that I hate those girls?! Just kidding. And it seems like they hav...

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Sequins & Houndstooth

It may be difficult to tell from the photos, but this top that I am wearing today is not only my favorite houndstooth pattern, but it is sequined houndstooth. And although it may sparkle and shine, it isn't to be worn only at night as some may think. It is perfect for a little day radiance as well.  What I wore : ~ TALBOTS sequined houndstooth blouse and Signature fit black denim ~ NY & Co. tuxedo blazer ~ Vigotti red patent pumps ~ Silpada sterling silver cocktail ring ~ Tinffany & Co. silver ball earrings

Laura's Lovely Look ~ Holiday Lace

{From upper left going clockwise: gold dust of eye shadow under the eye, feather flower belt, disco ball earrings and messy French twist} This lovely lace dress is pretty all on it's own. It doesn't take many accessories to make it look special. However, I can't just let it be. Above you will see the key elements that I chose to make this dress look more "holiday party". I actually purchased this dress in the spring, however by adding the black tights it is appropriate to wear during the fall and winter months as well. What I wore : ~ TALBOTS lace dress, black tights and feather flower belt ~ vintage black bow pumps  ~ disco ball earrings from Laura's Style Boutique
