What Black Friday Bargains Are Actually Worth Waking Up Early For?

I have only shopped on Black Friday one time in my life. My son was about three or four and his grandma offered to watch him while I did some Christmas shopping. I decided to embrace the humanity and go for the Black Friday deals. I started out around 5:00 am and headed for Starbucks. Then I entered the parking lot of my local Toys R Us store and thought, what the hell am I doing? After driving around and finally finding a parking spot that someone wasn't going to steal before my eyes even though I had my blinker on, I located a cart and gripped it with all my might and began to wheel it towards the store. Upon entering the store I became immobile. Unable to move through the crowd let alone sip my $5.00 Starbucks coffee that was almost falling out of my grip due to battling the crowds. That was the last time I would ever do that again. There wasn't even anything I needed or that my son wanted. I just thought shopping early in the morning on Black Friday might be a fun and festive thing to do. I have no problem admitting that I was wrong.

My #1 lesson learned on Black Friday was that Black Friday deals tend to last all weekend long if not longer. However, things do get sold out. Believe it or not, when this happens, it's not the end of the world. It may seem like it to your child when they don't receive that Playstation on Christmas morning, but hey, it's good for 'em to know that we don't always get what we want, but we always have what we need. Christmas is a great time to teach a lesson like that. Trust me, they will never forget for the rest of their life when they didn't get that "thing" they were hoping for on Christmas morning!

Sorry if this blog post seems like it's not about fashion. I didn't mean for it to be this way, honest! So, to answer the initial question at large: What Black Friday Deals Are Actually Worth Waking Up For? Okay, In a nutshell, I'd have to say none. Instead, my advice to you is to get those deals online in the comfort of your own home! Most Black Friday deals begin on Thanksgiving, so go online after you clean up the kitchen, when everyone is in a tryptophan daze. Below are some links to my favorite retailers who are offering some fabulous Black Friday deals right now. Just click on each photo and shop in your PJ's!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
