Love, Life & The Pursuit Of Happiness

Today just might be the first day of the rest of my life. Or at least the first day of totally thinking differently. I am now blogging with a whole new outlook on love, life and the pursuit of happiness. And believe me, YOU have everything to do with that.

I bring to you this new and improved Laura's Style Fashion blog with the intent of inspiring you to experiment with something new every day. You know what that means? I will be updating this blog five days a week beginning next Monday August 11th. It will be a challenge for me since I am a one woman show at this very moment. But I will be working hard at building Laura's Style into a team of passionate fashionistas like myself. I have gone through my life feeling alone in this lonely world of fashion and style, which is not so lonely once you leave the state of Maine. However, I believe that I am meant to be here. To bring you, my fellow Mainer, a sense of appreciation for fashion, culture and great style. I have a feeling there might be someone in this state who feels like I do. There has just got to be. I guess it's up to me to find out....

So, stay tuned to see what happens next. You know me. Always thinking about the next "big" thing that I can do to inspire you and yours.

You know what I always say. My style is to help you find yours. In the future I am hoping to change that statement to "Our style is to help you find yours." My hopes and dreams consist of building up this Laura's Style blog into a strong styling organization filled with an overload of inspiration for you.

Okay......ready......set........GO!

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
