Lottie Dottie

As time goes on I become more sensible, so comfort is KEY. And I have to say that these Weekender "Lottie Dot" Chinos from TALBOTS are one of the most comfortable things I own. I could really dress these down with a tee shirt and flip flops for my day off, but I love them so much that I decided to dress them up a bit and wear them to work. They are perfect for someone who works in a casual office setting. But you will want to be sure to throw on a blazer with these since they can actually look too casual if you are not careful, hence their name, "Weekender Chino" and we know that the word "weekend" implies total comfort and ease, which is not acceptable in a office setting. And you shouldn't think that your boss is a jerk because he/she made those dress codes for the office. Those rules actually help you look like you know what you are doing, even when you actually don't! Ha ha ;)

Isn't it cool what a blazer can do? Just throw one on and you will understand what I mean.
See! You're looking smarter already.

I am actually wearing vintage jewelry with this look. A vintage Sarah Coventry sea creatures charm bracelet from the 1960's and vintage faux pearl dangle earrings from the 1980's. You can find these vintage items along with many more at my online vintage jewelry boutique,

Fashion Is For Models. STYLE Is For Real Women.

The fashion world has always favored skinny models to show off the latest trends. But it's the real women who actually buy them. Why does this make sense? Well I guess when it comes right down to the brutal truth, people buy things that look good. And lets face it, clothes look better when they are smaller. It's kind of like when I go into a store to try on shoes and the one on display that I am attracted to is a size 6 or 7 and then the sales clerk brings out my size (9 or 9/2) and I'm like "That's not the same shoe, is it? The one on display looks different!" The clerk tells me that it is in fact the same shoe. Suddenly, I don't want to try it on anymore. So, I just want to tell all you ladies out there who are not a size 4 in a dress that I get it. But we can't let it bother us.  Fashion is everywhere and marketing is everywhere and the majority of it is big beautiful pictures of skinny people. Keep in mind, models in magazines have the b...

FALL for Flowers!

{Leifsdottir Alegrias tiered floral skirt} Totally unpredictable and completely cool. Flowers for fall are exactly what you need to take your "I miss summertime" blues away. There are no rules in fashion. It's just about achieving a look that is your best and that you feel good in. Who says plaid is the only print you can wear in the fall? Now, don't get me wrong. Plaid is one of my favorite patterns. So maybe we can mix them together! {See below} Flower patterns are fun and so glamorous during any season. Just make your floral skirts a little more fall like by wearing a pair of colorful tights! Can you say FLOWER POWER?! And we are going to need some major FLOWER POWER especially when the temperature begins to drastically drop. {Christopher Kane ~ garden leather mini skirt} {Carolina Herrera}

The Necessary Black T-Shirt

I have to admit, I have not been getting dressed up much these days. I think it has something to do with just wanted to be comfortable. I have been sewing a ton of masks at The Maine Square   and it just feels better to not be confined in my clothing as I am cutting fabric and sewing. However, I do have to go out of the studio occasionally. Mostly it's to the mailbox, but sometimes it's to get more supplies and of course food. I don't mean to sound pretentious or anything, but I do think about how I look even when going out to do these quick errands. It makes me feel good to look half decent! Lately I have been opting for a simple black tee shirt and a pair of semi faded jeans. All I need to do it pop on a camel colored blazer and some ballet flats and I am good to go! Oh yeah, and I ALWAYS wear a mask when entering a public facility these days. I think it's just common courtesy with all that is going on with the corona virus.  Here are some of my all-time favori...
